Generalized Super-Cerenkov Radiations in Nuclear and Hadronic Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Generalized Super-Cerenkov Radiations (SCR), as well as their SCR-signatures are investigated and classified. Two general SCR- coherence conditions are found as two natural extremes of the same spontaneous particles decay in (dielectric, nuclear or ...

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...

Evaluation of Chemical Stability of Coating Layer of Zirconium Nitride on the Basic Construction from Chromium-cobalt Alloy

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2007
In recent dental implantology, technically pure titanium or its alloys are broadly used as common metal material. The material possesses optimal biological characteristics.

Electrical pulse stimulation reflecting the episodic nature of real‐life exercise modulates metabolic and secretory profile of primary human myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Here, we introduced an intermittent electrical stimulation protocol mimicking the episodic nature of real‐life exercise in vitro by alternating low‐ and high‐frequency stimulation. In comparison with widely used continuous stimulation, it enhanced the rate of glucose and fatty acid oxidation, but not the myokine release.

Dual Regulation of Corneodesmosome Formation by Shotokuseki Extract Enhances Skin Barrier Homeostasis

open access: yesMolecules
Corneodesmosomes are specialized intercellular junctions that mediate adhesion between corneocytes in the stratum corneum (SC). The degradation of these structures is regulated by kallikrein-related peptidases (KLKs) and their inhibitors.

Charged particle single nanometre manufacturing

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2018
Following a brief historical summary of the way in which electron beam lithography developed out of the scanning electron microscope, three state-of-the-art charged-particle beam nanopatterning technologies are considered. All three have been the subject

Rate analysis of inexact dual first order methods: Application to distributed MPC for network systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we propose and analyze two dual methods based on inexact gradient information and averaging that generate approximate primal solutions for smooth convex optimization problems.

Short‐term actions of epigalocatechin‐3‐gallate in the liver: a mechanistic insight into hypoglycemic and potential toxic effects

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG) acutely inhibited gluconeogenesis and enhanced glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in perfused rat livers. Mechanistic assays revealed mitochondrial uncoupling, inhibition of pyruvate carboxylation and glucose‐6‐phosphatase, shift of NADH/NAD+ ratios toward oxidation, and loss of membrane integrity ...
