The structure of electric double layers (EDLs) is crucial for all types of electrochemical processes. While in dilute solutions EDL structure can be approximately treated within the Gouy-Chapman-Stern regime, in highly ionic electrolytes the description ...

Physical insight into the entropy‐driven ion association
Journal of Computational Chemistry, 2022The ion association is widely believed to be dominated by the favorable entropy change arising from the release of water molecules from ion hydration shells.

Nitrate ion association with Sm3+ ion
Monatshefte fr Chemie Chemical Monthly, 1987A solvent extraction method withTBP as an extractant was used for the determination of the stability constantsK 1 o for the SmNO 3 2+ complex, for different least approach distancesa of ions. It was established thata=6.5 A for SmNO

Ion Association Assisted Lithium Ion “Claw”
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1999N-Methoxycarbonyl-1H-azepine-2,7-dicarboxaldehyde (I) was synthesized via the SeO(2)-mediated oxidation of N-methoxycarbonyl-2,7-dimethyl-1H-azepine. The reductions of I in tetrahydrofuran with (6)Li or (7)Li resulted in anion radicals, which are tightly associated with the lithium cations.

We discuss here carboxylate graphene nanopore adsorbed with bivalent cations for Mg2+/Li+ separation based on molecular dynamic simulations. The results show that these graphene nanopores exhibit higher permeating preference to Li+ than to Mg2+, with the

Ion channel associated proteins
Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 1996Neuronal ion channels are directly associated in vivo with a wide variety of proteins. New classes of channel-associated proteins have been identified recently, including the PSD-95/SAP90 family of channel-clustering molecules and components of the synaptic vesicle release machinery.

Hydration and ion association of aqueous choline chloride and chlorocholine chloride.
Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics - PCCP, 2019The choline ion (Ch+) is ubiquitous in nature and also its synthetic homologue, chlorocholine (ClCh+), is widely used. Nevertheless, surprisingly little information on the hydration and counter-ion binding of these cations can be found in the literature.

Ion association in model ionic fluids
Physical Review E, 1999Monte Carlo simulations are used to investigate the temperature and pressure (density) dependence of ion association in the restricted primitive model. It is shown that at temperatures below the critical temperature T(c) the vapor consists almost exclusively of strongly bound ion pairs at or near contact.

In ion-molecule association on ion X+ and a molecule Y are drawn together by their mutual long-range attraction to form an activated complex $$ {X^ + } + Y \to X{Y^{ + *}} $$ (1) which is prevented from dissociating $$ X{Y^{ + *}} \to {X^ + } + Y $$ (2) by being stabilized through energy being removed by a collision with an ambient ...
