Simultaneous determination of several forms of phosphate in food by ion exchange chromatography

open access: yesTạp chí Kiểm nghiệm và An toàn thực phẩm
The phosphate group is a group of food additives commonly used for moisturizing, improving the structure, and retaining the color and flavor of products prepared from meat, fish, milk, baked goods, and beverages.

Formation of dimers in refolding of recombinant human interferon-γ by ion-exchange chromatography

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2006
The refolding process was performed by gradually decreasing the concentration of urea in the buffer after the denatured rhIFN-γ proteins had been bound onto the ion-exchange gel SP Sepharose Fast Flow.

A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

A method for suppressing pH excursion during elution in ion-exchange chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography Open
A simple method for reducing pH excursion during salt-induced elution in cation exchange chromatography is presented in this paper. Connecting a preequilibrated anion exchange cartridge in series in front of the cation exchange device just prior to the ...

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Ion-exchange purification and structural characterization of five sulfated fucoidans from brown algae

open access: yesGlycobiology, 2020
Fucoidans are a diverse class of sulfated polysaccharides integral to the cell wall of brown algae, and due to their various bioactivities, they are potential drugs. Standardized work with fucoidans is required for structure–function studies, but remains

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Analysis of metabolic profiles of bile acids in urine using a lipophilic anion exchanger and computerized gas-liquid chromatorgaphy-mass spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1977
A method is described for quantitative analysis of bile acids in urine. Urine is acidified and bile acids are extracted on an Amberlite XAD-2 column.
