A new type of Na+-driven ATP synthase membrane rotor with a two-carboxylate ion-coupling motif [PDF]
: The anaerobic bacterium Fusobacterium nucleatum uses glutamate decarboxylation to generate a transmembrane gradient of Na+. Here, we demonstrate that this ion-motive force is directly coupled to ATP synthesis, via an F1Fo-ATP synthase with a novel Na ...

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Electric potential and ion drag force in highly collisional complex plasma [PDF]
This PhD thesis is a cumulative dissertation that consists of three papers. The first paper describes the qualitative as well as quantitative nature of the electrostatic potential behind a macroparticle in a drifting collisional plasma and also the ion

Probing the relationship between electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves and plasmaspheric plumes near geosynchronous orbit [PDF]
Plasmaspheric plumes created during disturbed geomagnetic conditions have been suggested as a major cause of increased occurrences of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves at these times.

Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Generation of Fast Ions by Microclusters
Laser-irradiated microclusters can generate energetic ions that produce fusion reactions. The amount and spectrum of these ions depend on the cluster-size distribution, electron heating mechanism, and cluster expansion dynamics. This paper describes recent physics results pertinent to the items listed.

Single atom gas field ion sources for scanning ion microscopy
This chapter discusses fabrication and experimental evaluation of W(111) single atom tips (SATs) for gas field ion source applications. Firstly, a brief history of field ion microscopy (FIM) will be given since it will be heavily relied on throughout the

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
