Molecular characteristics of rice chimeras containing gene mutations induced by carbon ion beam radiation

open access: yesFushe yanjiu yu fushe gongyi xuebao
Chimeras are universal phenomena in the M1-generation plants obtained following radiation-induced mutagenesis; however, the mutational effects and variant inheritance mechanisms of related rice chimeras have yet to be sufficiently clarified.

Efficient carbon ion beam generation from laser-driven volume acceleration

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
Experimental data on laser-driven carbon C ^6+ ion acceleration with a peak intensity of 5 × 10 ^20  W cm ^−2 are presented and compared for opaque target normal sheath acceleration (TNSA) and relativistically transparent laser–plasma interactions ...

A Review of Aerosol Nanoparticle Formation from Ions

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
Ion-induced nucleation (IIN) mechanism has been widely accepted as an efficient source of new particle formation in the middle and upper troposphere. However, there have been debates on its contribution to the nucleation events observed in the boundary ...

Controllable laser ion beam generation

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2016
In intense-laser plasma interaction, several issues still remain to be solved for a future laser particle acceleration. In this paper we focus on a bunching of ion beam, which is preaccelerated by a strong electric field generated in a laser plasma interaction. In this study, a nearcritical-density plasma target is illuminated by an intense short laser

Engineering superpositions of displaced number states of a trapped ion

open access: yes, 2004
We present a protocol that permits the generation of a subtle with superposition with 2^(l+1) displaced number states on a circle in phase space as target state for the center-of-mass motion of a trapped ion.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Effects of Ion Temperature Anisotropy on Ion-scale Waves’ Generation in the Near-Sun Solar Wind: Parker Solar Probe Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The ion-scale electromagnetic waves are observed frequently within 0.3 au. Their generation and dissipation driven by wave–particle interaction are very important energy transfer processes in the weak collision corona and solar wind and may be one of the

Generation of pure, ionic entangled states via linear optics

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper, we propose a novel scheme to generate two-ion maximally entangled states from either pure product states or mixed states using linear optics. Our new scheme is mainly based on the ionic interference.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
