Toward Compact High-Performance Ion Mobility Spectrometers: Ion Gating in Ion Mobility Spectrometry
Analytical Chemistry, 2021Printed circuit board (PCB) based drift tube ion mobility spectrometers enable the use of state-of-the-art production techniques to manufacture compact devices with excellent performance at minimum cost. The new PCB ion mobility spectrometer (PCB-IMS) presented here is equipped with either a 140 MBq tritium or a 95 MBq nickel-63 ionization source and ...

Ion mobility–mass spectrometry
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2008AbstractThis review article compares and contrasts various types of ion mobility–mass spectrometers available today and describes their advantages for application to a wide range of analytes. Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), when coupled with mass spectrometry, offers value‐added data not possible from mass spectra alone. Separation of isomers, isobars,

Inverse Ion Mobility Spectrometry
Analytical Chemistry, 2009A novel method is proposed for enhancing the separation power of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) and other similar pulsed techniques, such as time-of-flight mass spectrometry. In this technique, rather than generating an ion packet, a dip is created in the ion beam. This is achieved by an inverse pulse applied to the shutter grid.
