Collision cross sections of negative cluster ions of phosphoric acid in N2 determined by drift tube ion mobility and their use in travelling wave ion mobility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
International audienceTravelling wave ion mobility usually uses a calibration procedure to determine collision cross sections. Here, we investigate phosphoric acid cluster anions as possible calibrants to increase the pool of reference ions for singly ...

Monitoring electric impedance during freezing and thawing of saline and de-ionized water

open access: yesJournal of Electrical Bioimpedance, 2020
Physiological saline (0.9% NaCl) and deionized water were frozen in a laboratory chest freezer and impedance was monitored throughout freezing and thawing.

A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

Discerning ambiguous internal fragment assignments that are generated in top-down mass spectrometry with cyclic ion-mobility enhances protein sequence information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Top-down mass spectrometry (TD-MS) has become a central technique for the analysis of intact proteins, and internal fragments (fragments containing neither the C- nor N-terminus) have been utilized to enhance the sequence information extracted from such ...

Efficient Recovery of Silver from Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells by Controlling the Viscosity of Electrolyte Solvent in an Electrochemical Process

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
We present electrowinning of silver (Ag) from crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells using a solution of methanesulfonic acid (MSA) as the electrolyte.

Lipid Annotator: Towards Accurate Annotation in Non-Targeted Liquid Chromatography High-Resolution Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-HRMS/MS) Lipidomics Using a Rapid and User-Friendly Software

open access: yesMetabolites, 2020
Lipidomics has great promise in various applications; however, a major bottleneck in lipidomics is the accurate and comprehensive annotation of high-resolution tandem mass spectral data.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Polymers for Traveling Wave Ion Mobility Spectrometry Calibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
International audienceOne of the main issues when using traveling wave ion mobility spectrometry (TWIMS) for the determination of collisional cross-section (CCS) concerns the need for a robust calibration procedure built from referent ions of known CCS ...
