There are many advantages to using ionic liquids as solvents or catalysts in chemical processes. Their non-volatile characteristic and high cost, however, can pose economic, environmental, and long-term health concerns.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Lattice Model of an Ionic Liquid at an Electrified Interface
We study ionic liquids interacting with electrified interfaces. The ionic fluid is modeled as a Coulomb lattice gas. We compare the ionic density profiles calculated using a popular modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation with the explicit Monte Carlo ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Taming the Base Catalyzed Sol–Gel Reaction: Basic Ionic Liquid Gels of SiO2 and TiO2 [PDF]
We describe the autocatalytic synthesis of SiO2 and TiO2 ionic liquid gels using a basic ionic liquid as the solvent, template, and catalyst for the sol–gel reaction.

Prospects and Design Insights of Neat Ionic Liquids as Supercapacitor Electrolytes
Ionic liquids present an opportunity to design efficient electrolytes for supercapacitors, which are among the most extensively studied electrochemical energy storage systems. Ionic liquids are promising candidates for supercapacitor electrolytes because

Triphilic ionic-liquid mixtures: fluorinated and non-fluorinated aprotic ionic-liquid mixtures [PDF]
We present here the possibility of forming triphilic mixtures from alkyl- and fluoroalkylimidazolium ionic liquids, thus, macroscopically homogeneous mixtures for which instead of the often observed two domainspolar and nonpolarthree stable microphases ...
