Invasive squamous cell carcinoma arising from an intraductal oncocytic papillary neoplasm demonstrating shared ATP1B1::PRKACA gene fusion

open access: yesHuman Pathology Reports
Intraductal oncocytic papillary neoplasms (IOPN) are rare cystic pancreatic neoplasms marked by oncocytic cells and intricate papillary structures.

Mercury (II) Removal From Stock Solutions Using Pulsed Electrochemical Technique Coupled With Biochar Adsorbent

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Pulsed electrooxidation combined with magnetic biochar adsorption achieved up to 98.9% Hg(II) removal from synthetic water. Optimal conditions (pH‐6.03, 34.15 min, 1.55 g/L biochar, 0.43 A, 227 mg/L Hg) enhanced efficiency beyond electrooxidation alone, demonstrating a synergistic, energy‐efficient treatment approach.

OPN‐Derived Peptides Generated by Proteasomes Can Promote Cell Migration via CD44 Activation

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Osteopontin (OPN) is a pleiotropic cytokine that is overexpressed in many autoimmune diseases and solid cancers. Here we show that the 20S proteasome can degrade, in vitro, both the full‐length OPN and the OPN‐C fragment generated in the extracellular space and produce both canonical and spliced peptides.

The Landscape of SPP1 + Macrophages Across Tissues and Diseases: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 176, Issue 2, Page 179-196, October 2025.
SPP1+ macrophages represent a conserved, disease‐associated population present across cancerous and non‐cancerous conditions, involved in immunosuppression, fibrosis, lipid metabolism, phagocytosis, and other cellular processes. This review highlights their shared molecular programmes across tissues, their interactions with stromal and immune cells ...

Stimuli‐Responsive Materials for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 36, September 11, 2025.
Stimulus‐responsive materials (SRMs) hold great promise for use in a wide range of biomedical applications. This review covers four stimulus modalities, namely, electrical, optical, magnetic, and ultrasound, and their associated SRMs. It provides a summary of the materials in each modality, their development, and current research perspectives.

Mucinous cystic neoplasms and simple mucinous cysts are two distinct precursors of pancreatic cancer: clinicopathological, genomic, and transcriptomic characterization

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 266, Issue 4-5, Page 421-434, August 2025.
Abstract Mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCNs) of the pancreas are macroscopic precursors of pancreatic cancer. A similar cystic lesion but lacking the ovarian‐type subepithelial stroma has been recently defined as a simple mucinous cyst (SMC); however, its nature remains unclear. This study aims to define the clinicopathological and molecular profiles of a

Emerging pathological diagnostic strategies for solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas: insights from omics and innovative techniques

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
Abstract Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) of the pancreas is a rare, low‐grade malignant tumor, representing 0.9–2.7% of all exocrine pancreatic tumors. SPN patients generally have a favorable prognosis with a 5‐year survival rate exceeding 95% following complete surgical resection.

Japanese classification of pancreatic carcinoma by the Japan Pancreas Society: Eighth edition

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, Volume 31, Issue 11, Page 755-768, November 2024.
Ishida and colleagues report that the eighth edition of the Japanese classification of pancreatic carcinoma retains the T category, introduces new lymph node names, incorporates peritoneal cytology into the M category, and addresses endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine‐needle aspiration biopsy and post‐therapy effects.

Serum Aspartate Aminotransferase, Alanine Aminotransferase, and Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase as Biomarkers of Active Alcohol Use and Abstinence in Indian Patients with Alcohol Dependence Syndrome: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Psychiatric Nursing
Background: Monitoring alcohol abstinence is challenging due to the limitations of self-reporting. This study aimed to establish diagnostic cut-offs for serum biomarkers – aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and gamma ...
