Synthetic polymer nanocarrier enhances dsRNA stability but not RNAi efficacy in Brassicogethes aeneus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Experimental setup for dsRNA feeding in Brassicogethes aeneus to evaluate the effect of a synthetic polymer nanocarrier on RNAi efficiency. The experiment assessed whether the nanocarrier enhances RNAi after oral dsRNA delivery. (a) Stability of dsRNA–nanocarrier complexes was tested in simulated gut conditions. (b) Gene expression of αCOP and dre4 was

Is Canada Really All That Bad At Innovation?: A Tale of Two Industries [PDF]

open access: yes
This commentary raises questions about the degree to which global innovation indicators enable us to understand the historical dynamics of innovation in Canada, and about future directions for Canadian innovation policy. By focusing on the automotive and

Effects of bioinsecticide exposure route on aphids and their natural enemies in oilseed rape

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Fatty acids, silicone polymers and surfactants reduced aphid numbers but caused natural enemy mortality under direct exposure, while minimal residual activity suggests potential for targeted, compatible use in integrated pest management. Abstract BACKGROUND Myzus persicae Sulzer and Brevicoryne brassicae L.

Virulence of two entomopathogenic nematodes through their interaction with Beauveria bassiana and Bacillus thuringiensis against Pieris brassicae (Lepidoptera: Pieridae)

open access: yesJournal of Crop Protection, 2017
Pieris brassicae L. is one of the most important pests of Brassicaceae. The insecticidal effect of two entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs), Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema feltiae, was determined through their interaction with Beauveria ...

Using deep learning to assess the toxicological effects of sublethal exposure of a novel green pesticide in a stored‐product beetle

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study employs an AI‐driven multidisciplinary approach to increase our understanding of the toxicological effects of sublethal concentrations of carlina oxide on Prostephanus truncatus. Sublethal exposure to the carlina oxide induced changes in motor patterns and thigmotaxis, highlighting its potential role in integrated pest management strategies.

Confessions of a Serial Productivity Researcher [PDF]

open access: yes
With an ageing population and declining labour force growth productivity is becoming increasingly important as a source of economic growth. Despite this importance, governments fear the productivity word because of public misunderstanding of its meaning.

Analytical modeling of open-Circuit air-Gap field distributions in multisegment and multilayer interior permanent-magnet machines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present a simple lumped magnetic circuit model for interior permanent-magnet (IPM) machines with multisegment and multilayer permanent magnets. We derived analytically the open-circuit air-gap field distribution, average air-gap flux density, and ...

Conned by the enemy: the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae lures and kills Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Highly pathogenic isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae attracted Drosophila suzukii. Identifying the responsible compounds for this attraction could help the development of these isolates for pest monitoring and overall pest management. Abstract BACKGROUND Drosophila suzukii, commonly known as spotted wing drosophila (SWD), is a highly invasive and ...

Improving US National Accounts Integration and Consistency: A Review Article on A New Architecture for the U.S. National Accounts [PDF]

open access: yes
The review article first presents a brief overview of each chapter, focusing on the main contributions of the respective authors. This does not fully do justice to their work since these chapters include much more than can be considered here, but it will
