Development and Characterization of Sr-Containing Glass-Ceramic Composites Based on Biogenic Hydroxyapatite

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
Composite materials based on hydroxyapatite are widely used for bone tissue engineering. There is evidence of a positive effect of the presence of strontium in osteoplastic materials in the case of a Ca/Sr certain ratio.

Dual‐Band Modulation of Emissivity and Solar Transmittance Through Chemical Composition‐Tuned Asymmetric Layer‐by‐Layer Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An unconventional asymmetric Layer‐by‐Layer (LbL) assembly technique was developed to fabricate a Fabry‐Pérot (F‐P) resonator, which enhances luminous transmittance (Tlum) and enables dual‐band modulation in both the near‐infrared (NIR) and mid‐infrared (MIR) regions.

Calibration of the DSCOVR EPIC Visible and NIR Channels Using MODIS Terra and Aqua Data and EPIC Lunar Observations [PDF]

open access: yes
The unique position of the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) at the Lagrange 1 point makes an important addition to the data from currently operating low orbit Earth observing instruments.

Enhanced erbium-doped ceria nanostructure coating to improve solar cell performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper discusses the effect of adding reduced erbium-doped ceria nanoparticles (REDC NPs) as a coating on silicon solar cells. Reduced ceria nanoparticles doped with erbium have the advantages of both improving conductivity and optical conversion of ...

Resolving Oxidative and Corrosive Calendar‐Aging via Electrolyte Engineering for Stable Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A weakly solvating ether solvent, 1,2‐dimethoxypropane (DMP), is proposed for use in localized high‐concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) for lithium metal batteries (LMBs). These DMP‐based LHCEs simultaneously suppress lithium metal corrosion and cathode degradation—two interrelated processes that accelerate calendar aging of LMBs.

Stabilizing Magnesium Anodes in Rechargeable Magnesium Batteries via Fluorinated Cyclic Ether Electrolyte Additive

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorinated cyclic ether, FDOL, is shown to stabilize Mg metal anodes by tuning Mg2+ solvation of the G2 electrolyte. The G2‐FDOL electrolyte suppresses passivation and thick, diffusion‐blocking Mg deposits, enabling more uniform Mg plating/stripping and sustained interfacial reactions.

Phasenumwandlung von 3,6-Diphenyl pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dithione für optische Speicherungsanwendungen

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1994
'Diketopyrrolopyrroles' (DPP) are industrially important red pigments which resist bleaching. Thionation (replacement of the O- by the S-atom; the title compound (DTPP)) brings about an intense near-IR absorption in the solid state.
