Laser spectroscopy of iridium monohydride and iridium monodeuteride

Chemical Physics Letters, 2012
Abstract Laser-induced fluorescence spectra of iridium monohydride (IrH) and monodeuteride (IrD) have been obtained at medium resolution. Eight red-degraded bands for each isotopologue were observed. The bands are assigned as Ω ′ = 4 −  Ω ″ = 4 transitions with the ground state common to all bands in each isotopologue.

Benzenethiolato-derivatives of iridium(I) and iridium(III)

Journal of the Chemical Society A: Inorganic, Physical, Theoretical, 1970
The complexes trans-[IrX(CO)(PPh3)2](X = Cl, Br, or I) react with benzenethiol and pentafluorobenzenethiol to yield initially [IrHX(C6H5S)(CO)(PPh3)2] and [IrHX(C6F5S)(CO)(PPh3)2](2 isomers) respectively. Prolonged reaction with pentafluorobenzenethiol leads to a more complex mixture of products containing [IrHX2(CO)(PPh3)2], [IrH(C6F5S)2(CO)(PPh3)2], [

Strength of iridium-olefin and iridium-acetylene bonds

Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 1974
Abstract Enthalpies of the dissociation reactions: IrX(CO)(PPh 3 ) 2 (L)(cryst.) → IrX(CO)(PPh 3 - ) 2 (cryst.) + L(g) (X = F, Cl, Br, or I; L = C 2 F 4 or C 4 F 6 ) have been measured. These enthalpies decrease to a minimum value at X = Br, indicating an order of stability of F > Cl > Br > I.

Superconductivity of Iridium

Physical Review Letters, 1962
Very pure Ir is found to be superconducting. The critical field varies from 16 gauss at 0.04 deg K to 0 gauss at 0.14 deg K. In the purification process, special care is taken to remove as much Fe as possible. (T.F.H.)

An iridium-193 and gold-197 Mössbauer investigation of iridium(I), iridium(III) and iridium(I)/gold(I) complexes

Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 1991
Abstract Comparison of the 193 Ir and 197 Au Mossbauer spectra of the series trans -(Ph 3 P) 2 Ir(CO)X, trans,cis -(Ph 3 P) 2 (H) 2 Ir(CO)(X) (X = Cl or pz- N ; pzH = 3,5-dimethyl-, 3,5-dimethyl-4-nitro-, 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)pyrazole) and trans -(Ph 3 P) 2 (CO)Ir[μ-(3,5-dimethylpyrazolato- N , N ′)]AuX′ (X′ = Cl, Br) shows that even the ...

Oxidation of iridium

Metallurgical transactions, 1974
Iridium wires self-reistance-heated to temperatures in the range of 1675 to 2260°C (1948 to 2533 K) were oxidized in naturally convected oxygen at pressures in the range of 0.00132 to 1.32 atmospheres (134 to 1.34× 105 Pa). The experimental results were closely corre-lated by a theoretical rate equation based upon control of the oxidation rates by ...

Iridium reborn [Iridium satellite communication network]

Engineering & Technology, 2010
When Cambridge Consultants re-engineered the handsets for the Iridium satellite communication network, it also discovered a better way to develop complex DSP systems. The Iridium satellite communications system has had a chequered history. Conceived when it was still unclear whether cellular telephony would take off, by the time its constellation of ...

Iridium in sea-water

Talanta, 1985
Iridium in sea-water has been measured (after isolation from the saline matrix by reduction with magnesium) by neutron bombardment, radiochemical purification and high-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy. The concentration obtained in a Pacific coastal water was 1.02 +/- 0.26 x 10(-14) g per g of sea-water.
