Iridium reborn [Iridium satellite communication network]

Engineering & Technology, 2010
When Cambridge Consultants re-engineered the handsets for the Iridium satellite communication network, it also discovered a better way to develop complex DSP systems. The Iridium satellite communications system has had a chequered history. Conceived when it was still unclear whether cellular telephony would take off, by the time its constellation of ...

Iridium afterloading techniques

The British Journal of Radiology, 1983
The role of 192Ir wire and pins in interstitial therapy is well established. Advantages include the achievement of good geometrical source distributions and the reduction of radiation exposure to staff.

Adsorption of nitrogen on iridium

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1978
Adsorption of nitrogen on perfect and stepped planes of iridium, carried out by a high sensitive probe hole technique at 77 K, is presented. Only a positive polarity of nitrogen is found on low index flat surfaces (111), (100) and on the (311) face, while a negative film is observed on all other planes studied, when the density of field evaporation ...

Iridium in sea-water

Talanta, 1985
Iridium in sea-water has been measured (after isolation from the saline matrix by reduction with magnesium) by neutron bombardment, radiochemical purification and high-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy. The concentration obtained in a Pacific coastal water was 1.02 +/- 0.26 x 10(-14) g per g of sea-water.

The Electrodeposition of Iridium

Transactions of the IMF, 1965
SummaryThe present paper describes the results of exploratory plating tests carried out on a number of aqueous solutions proposed for the electrodeposition of iridium, and the development of a new solution which makes iridium plating a practical proposition.

Rhodium and iridium

1997
Rhodium and iridium were discovered independently in the same year and also share many resemblances in their chemistry [1–10]. They form a wide range of conventional complexes as well as those of π-bonding ligands. Both metals exhibit an extensive chemistry, principally in the +3 oxidation state, with +1 also being important, and a significant ...
