The iridocorneal endothelial syndrome

Survey of Ophthalmology, 2018
The iridocorneal endothelial syndrome represents a unique group of ocular pathologies (Chandler syndrome, progressive iris atrophy, and Cogan-Reese syndrome) characterized by the proliferation of corneal endothelial cells that migrate toward the iridocorneal angle and iris surface causing, to a degree varying according to the subtype, corneal edema and

Decreased Endothelial Permeability in the Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

Ophthalmology, 1982
Five patients with the iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome were examined by fluorophotometry. All patients had typical abnormal corneal endothelium, peripheral anterior synechiae, and distortion of the iris (pupillary irregularity or anterior stromal traction tears) in one eye only.

In-vivo confocal microscopy of iridocorneal endothelial syndrome

International Ophthalmology, 2008
We carried out a study by in-vivo confocal microscopy to investigate the appearance of iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome, and discuss its diagnostic potential.Twelve patients, each with unilateral ICE syndrome, had both their eyes examined by in-vivo confocal microscopy.

Glaucoma and the Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1992
The records of 66 patients with the iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome were retrospectively reviewed. Glaucoma occurred in 33 (50%) of the patients with ICE syndrome and was most common in the variants in which abnormal cells involve the entire posterior corneal surface (disseminated ICE and total ICE).

Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome in a Child

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 2006

ABSTRACT

The iridocorneal endothelial syndrome is an important and unusual cause of acquired glaucoma in adults. We report its occurrence in a child who presented with glaucoma. The patient required glaucoma surgery, and a goniotomy and trabeculectomy were performed.

The Histopathology of the Iridocorneal-Endothelial Syndrome

Cornea, 1996
The iridocorneal-endothelial (ICE) syndrome is characterised clinically by a "hammered-silver" appearance of the corneal endothelium, corneal failure, glaucoma, and iris destruction. Specular photomicroscopic studies of the corneal endothelium have demonstrated a population of abnormal cells termed "ICE cells." The purpose of this study was to define ...

Penetrating Keratoplasty in Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

Cornea, 2001
To evaluate the clinical outcome of penetrating keratoplasty (PK) in iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome.Clinical charts of patients who underwent penetrating keratoplasty for ICE syndrome between 1985 and 1999 were reviewed retrospectively. Glaucoma control, best corrected visual acuity pre- and post-PK, graft clarity, graft rejection episodes ...

Surgical Results in Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1988
The charts of 83 patients with iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome were retrospectively reviewed. Forty-two eyes of 42 patients had had filtering surgery, 37 of whom had had a trabeculectomy to reduce uncontrolled intraocular pressure. Twenty-four of these trabeculectomy patients required a second surgery, and 8 required a third surgery.

Descemet's Stripping With Endothelial Keratoplasty in Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2008
An interventional case is described to report on the clinical outcome of Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty performed for iridocorneal endothelial syndrome. A Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty was performed in the eye of a 53-year-old woman with decompensated cornea secondary to iridocorneal ...

Results of Penetrating Keratoplasty in the Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1984
Five patients (four men and one woman ranging in age from 30 to 41 years) with the iridocorneal endothelial syndrome (four with Chandler's syndrome and one with essential iris atrophy) underwent penetrating keratoplasty for complaints relating to diminished visual acuity or pain.
