Modulation of Field Emission Resonance on photodetachment of negative ions on surface
The interaction between the field emission resonance states and the photodetached electron in an electric field is studied by semiclassical theory. An analytical expression of the photodetachment cross section is derived in the framework.

A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...

Applicability of Nonlinear Wavemaker Theory
Generation of high-quality waves is essential when making numerical or physically model tests. When using a wavemaker theory outside the validity area, spurious waves are generated.

Numerical Simulation of Irregular Breaking Waves Using a Coupled Artificial Compressibility Method
Wave breaking is widely recognized as a very challenging phenomenon to emulate using numerical/computational methods. On that condition, the transition from modelling regular to irregular breaking waves is not trivial.

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Parametric pitch instability of a Deep Draft Semi-submersible platform (DDS) is investigated in irregular waves. Parametric pitch is a form of parametric instability, which occurs when parameters of a system vary with time and the variation satisfies a ...

Expected Discharge of Irregular Wave Overtopping
An experiment was carried out on the overtopping of mechanically generated irregular waves over vertical walls. The experimental discharge was almost in agreement with the expected discharge which had been calculated with the wave height histogram and the data of regular wave overtopping based on the principle of linear summation.

Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.

Hydrodynamic Response of Hybrid FOWC-BBDB Wave Energy Converters Using SPH
To evaluate the longevity and performance of point-absorber wave energy converters (WECs), it is crucial to understand their response to extreme sea conditions. However, data on their hydrodynamic behavior under such stresses is limited.

Limit cycles in the presence of convection, a travelling wave analysis
We consider a diffusion model with limit cycle reaction functions, in the presence of convection. We select a set of functions derived from a realistic reaction model: the Schnakenberg equations. This resultant form is unsymmetrical.
