The island species–area relationship (ISAR) describes how the number of species increases with increasing size of an island (or island‐like habitat), and is of fundamental importance in island biogeography and conservation. Here, we use a framework based

Seasonal variation of dry and wet islands in Beijing considering urban artificial water dissipation
Urbanization has resulted in dry/wet island effects in built-up areas. Compared to the limited number of observational datasets, simulations can provide data with richer spatial distribution, thereby proving to be more helpful for revealing the spatial ...

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Multi-anyons in the magnetic field
We consider the external magnetic field effects on the two types of anyon with fractional statistical parameters $p/q$ with coprimes $p$ and $q$, one with fractional charge $e/q $ and flux $p \phi_0(=hc/e)$(type I), the other with fractional flux $p ...

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

Reassessing L2 sensitivity to island constraints: asymmetries between wh-islands and adjunct-islands
This study investigates Korean L2 speakers' sensitivity to English island constraints, focusing on the widely reported—but theoretically puzzling—asymmetry between wh/whether-islands and adjunct-islands. Using a factorial definition of island effects, we

Simulações Numéricas da Formação de Ilha de Calor na Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro [PDF]
The differents characteristics of ground covering in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region, where regions with high percentage of asphalt and concrete are surrounded for rural areas, determine the appearance of a temperature horizontal gradient ...

Diversity enabling equilibration: disorder and the ground state in artificial spin ice
We report a novel approach to the question of whether and how the ground state can be achieved in square artificial spin ices where frustration is incomplete.

Cutaneous Phosphorylated Alpha‐Synuclein in Lewy Body Dementia
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the test performance of cutaneous phosphorylated alpha‐synuclein (P‐SYN) in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), individuals with reduced Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and healthy controls. Methods This is the first subgroup analysis of the Synuclein‐One study, a prospective, blinded study evaluating P‐SYN detection ...

Scaling of Island Growth in Pb Overlayers on Cu(001)
The growth and ordering of a Pb layer deposited on Cu(001) at 150 K has been studied using atom beam scattering. At low coverage, ordered Pb islands with a large square unit cell and nearly hexagonal internal structure are formed.
