Island Custom Blocking Technique

Medical Dosimetry, 1988
The technique of Island blocking is being used more frequently since the advent of our new head and neck blocking techniques and the implementation of a newly devised lung protocol. The system presented affords the mould room personnel a quick and accurate means of island block fabrication without the constant remeasuring or subtle shifting to ...

The Deserted Island Technique

Counselling Psychology Review, 1993
Stress-management practitioners, counsellors and psychotherapists often repeat the words of Epictetus, a Roman philosopher, to their clients to demonstrate the importance of cognitions as a major contributory factor to the cause of stress. Epictetus stated that individuals “are disturbed not by things but by their views of things”.

Island Technique for Prominent Ears

2013
Otoplasty should be performed to correct prominent ears around the age of 7 years. General anesthesia is usually required for patients under the age of 10 years. After 10 years of age, the procedure may be performed under local anesthesia and sedation, with an anesthesiology team.

A New Lissajous-Based Technique for Islanding Detection in Microgrid [PDF]

open access: possibleIEEE Transactions on Smart Grid
This study presents a novel technique for islanding detection in microgrid based on Lissajous figure of voltage and current signals. The Lissajous figure reveals distinct pattern during islanding which can segregate the islanding event from other non-islanding disturbance events such as switching transients and faults.

Research on a novel islanding detection technique

Proceeding of the 11th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation, 2014
Inadvertent islanding causes serious problems. For these reasons islanding detection is an indispensable feature for distributed generation systems. In this paper, the non-detection zones (NDZs) of over/under voltage (OUV) and over/under frequency (OUF) method are analyzed in ΔP versus ΔQ space.

Unintentional islanding and comparison of prevention techniques

Proceedings of the 37th Annual North American Power Symposium, 2005., 2005
When one or more distributed resources (DR) become isolated from the rest of the power system and inadvertently continue to serve loads separately from the utility system, the condition is known as "unintentional islanding". Utility engineers are seriously concerned about unintentional formation of islands. This is because the utility looses control of

Island pedicle graft in stomal stenosis: A new technique

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1983
Pinpoint obstructive stenosis of the urinary stoma was treated in 5 patients after ileal conduit urinary diversion and in 2 with cutaneous ureterostomy. All 7 patients underwent a single-stage stomal revision with the use of 1 or more island pedicle skin grafts to increase stomal diameter.

Technique of Mobile Bony Island for Cochlear Implantation in Children

ORL, 2009
The technique of mobile bony island is designed to form a buffering platform for the receiver/stimulator device of cochlear implant. It is especially suitable for young children, in whom the skull is thin and the protrusion of the device would otherwise be significant. This technique was used in 6 cases with an age range from 2 to 12 years old.

A synchronization technique for microgrid reclosing after islanding operation

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
The future electric grid concept will cover some small parts to be disconnected and work in an autonomous way isolated from the main utility. Control of microgrids — composed by the couple distributed sources-local loads — with the competence of operating in grid-connected and island mode is a trending research area.

Intelligent Islanding and Seamless Reconnection Technique for Microgrid With UPQC

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2015
A new proposal for the placement, integration, and control of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) in distributed generation (DG)-based grid connected/autonomous microgrid/microgeneration (μ G) system has been presented here. The DG converters (with storage) and the shunt part of the UPQC Active Power Filter (APFsh) is placed at the Point of Common
