Divergent effects of glutathione depletion on isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and the pentose phosphate pathway in hamster liver

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2020
The liver regenerates NADPH via multiple pathways to maintain redox balance and reductive biosynthesis. The pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) contributes to hepatic lipogenesis by supplying NADPH, and it is thought to play a major role in response to ...

USP5 Stabilizes TGFBR1 to Drive Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Senescence and Atherosclerosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that USP5 drives vascular smooth muscle cell senescence and atherosclerosis by stabilizing TGFBR1, suppressing IDH2, and promoting glycolytic reprogramming, identifying the USP5‐TGFBR1‐IDH2 axis as a potential therapeutic target. ABSTRACT Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) senescence contributes importantly to atherosclerotic plaque ...

Isocitrate dehydrogenases in physiology and cancer: biochemical and molecular insight

open access: yesCell & Bioscience, 2017
Isocitrate dehydrogenases play important roles in cellular metabolism and cancer. This review will discuss how the roles of isoforms 1 and 2 in normal cell and cancer metabolism are distinct from those of isoform 3. It will also explain why, unlike 1 and

Effects of Medium Components on Isocitric Acid Production by Yarrowia lipolytica Yeast

open access: yesFermentation, 2020
The microbiological production of isocitric acid (ICA) is more preferable for its application in medicine and food, because the resulting product contains only the natural isomer—threo-DS.

EBV‐Driven ODC1 Upregulation Enhances Polyamine Anabolism to Promote Viral Replication and Cisplatin Resistance in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
EBV‑BZLF1 initiates ODC1‑driven polyamine anabolism that correlates with poor clinical prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The ODC1–spermidine axis promotes viral replication, cell proliferation and innate immune evasion. Pharmacological inhibition of ODC1 rescues cisplatin sensitivity, establishing ODC1 as a viable therapeutic target for EBV ...

ROS‐Responsive Eye Drop for Controlled Release of 20‐Deoxyingenol Improves Diabetic Corneal Healing by Activating Macrophage Autophagy and Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of ROS‐responsive TSPBA‐PVA microspheres loaded with 20‐deoxyingenol (TP/20‐DOI) for diabetic corneal wound healing: (a) fabrication and ROS‐triggered release; (b) autophagy activation and metabolic reprogramming in macrophages; (c) suppression of macrophage‐derived CXCL3/CXCL5, attenuation of neutrophil infiltration, and ...

On the heterogeneity of the mitochondrial C27-steroid 26-hydroxylase system

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1976
Mitochondrial 26-hydroxylation of exogenous cholesterol, endogenous cholesterol, and 5β-cholestane-3α,7α,12α-triol was studied. 26-Hydroxylation of endogenous cholesterol was measured by mass fragmentography.

CLINICAL STUDIES ON ISOCITRIC DEHYDROGENASE

open access: yesNihon Naika Gakkai Zasshi, 1963

Wild-Type Isocitrate Dehydrogenase-Dependent Oxidative Decarboxylation and Reductive Carboxylation in Cancer and Their Clinical Significance

open access: yes, 2022
The human isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) gene encodes for the isoenzymes IDH1, 2, and 3, which catalyze the conversion of isocitrate and α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) and are required for normal mammalian metabolism. Isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2
