Health Hazard Manual for Firefighters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
[Excerpt] Firefighters, as well as victims, can be exposed to a variety of toxic substances during a fire. Some of these toxicants are particularly insidious because they are produced by thermal decomposition before smoke makes a fire ...

Activation of Cyanate Anions by Phosphine Radical Cations Enables Formal Hydrocarbamoylation of Alkenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 4, 22 January 2026.
A photocatalytic formal hydrocarbamoylation reaction that employs a cyanate anion as the C1 source and provides N‐acyl iminophosphorane products from activated alkenes is described. Mechanistic investigations suggest generation of a phosphoranyl radical by addition of the cyanate anion to a phosphine radical cation, which enables the delivery of the ...

Microbial BioRemediation Database: A Comprehensive Database of Genes Involved in Microbial Bioremediation Processes

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
We present the Microbial BioRemediation (MBR) database, a curated resource of over 642,000 bacterial protein sequences involved in the degradation of 564 environmental pollutants. By enabling rapid functional profiling of microbial genomes and communities across both environmental and host‐associated ecosystems, MBR supports the identification of key ...

Epidemiological Comparative Study on Contact Sensitisations in Woodworkers With Occupational Dermatitis: Patch Test Data of the Information Network of Departments of Dermatology, 1999 to 2023

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 2, Page 125-136, February 2026.
The data demonstrates that allergic contact dermatitis is common in WW with OD. The most important allergens include resins (including epoxy resin) and plant‐derived substances (including colophonium). The high share of WW with allergic contact dermatitis and face dermatitis hampers preventive efforts.

Deprotective Functionalization: An Emerging Concept for Amine Reactivity

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 4, 23 January 2026.
While protecting groups are indispensable in total synthesis to avoid undesired reactivity, installation and removal of protecting groups lead to an increase in the step‐count, cost, waste production and time requirement. One approach tackling these drawbacks is deprotective functionalization, which combines deprotection and postfunctionalization in a ...
