Example of object based image analysis applied to coarse resolution images. Application to landscape classification in France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Object based image analysis (OBIA) is a powerful technique for classification of remote sensing images. Although it is generally used with very high resolution images, its application is not linked to a particular spatial resolution, and OBIA can be ...

An experimental flow regime map to dynamically structure gas–solid bubbling fluidized beds

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 71, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Employing oscillatory gas flows to create ordered bubble dynamics in fluidized beds represents a promising approach in reactor design, enhancing efficiency, scalability, and control. This study reports an extensive experimental campaign that identifies the operational regime for structuring Geldart B fluidized beds, introducing a novel pattern

Mapping Turbidity Spatial Distribution of Monobe River in Kochi, Japan, Using Satellite Images and Existing Turbidity Data

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 942-952, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Maintaining the environment and functionality of rivers is crucial for the natural environment and socioeconomic activities. In Kochi Prefecture, field measurements of turbidity have been conducted to contribute to countermeasures against prolonged turbid water in the Monobe River; however, a detailed understanding of turbidity across the ...

An Integrated Framework for the Assessment of Meso‐Scale Physical Habitats in Gravel‐Bed Rivers Using Remote Sensing and 2D Hydraulic Modeling

open access: yesWIREs Water, Volume 12, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
A five‐step integrated modeling framework combines remote sensing and two‐dimensional hydraulic modeling to describe mesohabitats and assess suitability for target species. Remote sensing provides a Digital Terrain Model and an orthophoto (step 1) that can be used to classify and map environmental descriptors such as substrate and refugia (step 2).

Terrain classification by cluster analisys [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The digital terrain modelling can be obtained by different methods belonging to two principal categories: deterministic methods (e.g. polinomial and spline functions interpolation, Fourier spectra) and stochastic methods (e.g.
