Adrenocortical Adenocarcinoma in a Syrian Golden Hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) With Suspected Hyperadrenocorticism

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
A 2‐year‐old female golden hamster presented with non‐pruritic alopecia of the hindquarters. Diagnostic imaging and cytological evaluation revealed a unilateral adrenal mass consistent with an adrenocortical tumour, while biochemical analyses suggested corticosteroid secretion.

Risks of Serious Adverse Events Associated With Non‐Steroidal Anti‐Inflammatory Drugs in Orthopaedic Surgery. A Systematic Review With Meta‐Analysis and Trial Sequential Analysis

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are recommended for perioperative analgesic treatment. However, NSAID treatment may be associated with increased risk of adverse events. We investigated the risks of serious adverse events with perioperative NSAID treatment in patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery.

Novel drugs approved by the EMA, the FDA and the MHRA in 2025: A year in review

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 9, Page 1779-1813, May 2026.
Abstract In the 2025 novel drug mini‐review, one can take a full measure of the ingenuity that underlies current drug design and development, despite the year's smaller harvest (46 novel drugs) compared to 2024 (53) and 2023 (70). 54% of the novel drugs are first‐in‐class (FIC).

Retinal Pigment Epitheliopathy due to Sub‐Optimal Recycling of Vitamin A (RESORVA): A Novel RDH11 ‐Related Phenotype

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 109, Issue 5, Page 972-977, May 2026.
RDH11 is a minor isoenzyme that catalyses the oxidation of 11‐cis‐retinol to 11‐cis‐retinal in the retinal pigment epithelium, alongside RDH5 and RDH10. Biallelic null variants in RDH11 lead to upregulation of RDH5 and RDH10 (transcriptional adaptation), maintaining 11‐cis‐retinal bioavailability, but still causing Retinal Pigment Epitheliopathy due to

YTHDF3 Mediates the Occurrence and Development of Breast Cancer by Regulating Glycolysis Through the mTOR–HIF1α–LHDA Axis

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Breast cancer, a malignant tumour that frightens women, ruthlessly claims the lives of tens of thousands of women around the world every year. However, the mechanism by which YTHDF3 regulates the occurrence and development of breast cancer is still imperfect.

Fair and Square: Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluations of Squaric Acid Derivatives as Novel HDAC8 Inhibitors

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Histone deacetylase 8 (HDAC8) is a clinically validated target in neuroblastoma, where isoform selective inhibition offers a strategy to suppress tumour growth while limiting off‐target toxicity. Hydroxamic acids remain the dominant zinc‐binding group (ZBG) in HDAC inhibitors but are also associated with metabolic instability, suboptimal ...

How enzyme economy shapes metabolic fluxes

open access: yes, 2014
Metabolic fluxes are governed by physical and economic principles. Stationarity constrains them to a subspace in flux space and thermodynamics makes them lead from higher to lower chemical potentials.
