New Insights Into Ginseng and Clove Supplementation: Alleviating Obesity by Reducing Leptin Resistance and Reshaping the Gut Microbiota

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
AEGC conferred substantial resistance to weight gain and reduced food intake. AEGC may alleviate LR by regulating the levels of LEP and ADP. AEGC elevated the diversity of gut microbiota and reconstructed the composition. Changes such as CAG‐873 in gut microbiota may be the reason why AEGC alleviates LR.

Quantitative analysis method for isoeugenol in fishery products using gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry

open access: yesApplied Biological Chemistry
Isoeugenol, an anesthetic used in marine products, has different regulations in each country and there is controversy regarding the degree of risk. Therefore, it is necessary to establish reliable analytical methods for detection and quantification.

Development of a colloidal gold immunoassay for the detection of four eugenol compounds in water

open access: yesFood and Agricultural Immunology, 2019
A monoclonal antibody (mAb), 2C9, selective for four eugenol compounds, was developed based on the eugenol derivatives (Eug-1). The semi-inhibitory concentrations (IC50) of this antibody against eugenol, isoeugenol, methyl eugenol, and methyl isoeugenol ...

Recordings in an integrating central neuron reveal the mode of action of isoeugenol

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
In vivo intracellular recordings from the goldfish Mauthner neuron reveal the mode of action of isoeugenol, which is a widely used anaesthetic in fish.

The use of tricaine methanesulfonate, clove oil, metomidate, and 2-phenoxyethanol for anesthesia induction in alewives (Alosa pseudoharengus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Anesthetics are widely used in routine aquaculture operations to immobilize animals for tagging, spawning, handling, and vaccination. A number of anesthetics are currently available for finfish, but their efficacy and optimal dosage is highly species ...

Chemical screening identifies the β-Carboline alkaloid harmine to be synergistically lethal with doxorubicin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Despite being an invaluable chemotherapeutic agent for several types of cancer, the clinical utility of doxorubicin is hampered by its age-related and dose-dependent cardiotoxicity.

Geographical Variation in Nutritional Components of Peanut: Evidence From Multi‐Region Production Areas

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT As an important oilseed and food material, the nutritional quality of peanut is influenced by not only the variety but also place of origin. However, research on the geographical impact remains scarce. In this study, nine peanut cultivars were planted at eight sites to determine geographical effects on quality parameters, including fatty acids,

Mechanochemical Synthesis of CuO/MgAl2O4 and MgFe2O4 Spinels for Vanillin Production from Isoeugenol and Vanillyl Alcohol

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
CuO/MgAl2O4 and CuO/MgFe2O4 catalysts were successfully synthesized with the use of spinel supports by a very simple and low-cost mechanochemical method. High-speed ball-milling was used to synthesize these catalyst supports for the first time. Materials

Isoeugenol-based novel potent antioxidants: Synthesis and reactivity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2011
We are attempting to develop the novel phenolic synthetic antioxidants aimed at retarding the effects of free radicals and oxidants. The phenolic compounds (7-12) were synthesized by Friedel-Crafts alkylation of isoeugenol (1) and phenol derivatives (2-6) and their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods.
