Engineering Highly Cellularized Living Materials via Mechanical Agitation
A mechanical agitation strategy is developed to engineer highly cellularized living materials, achieving cell densities of up to 1 billion cells per milliliter. By precisely tuning properties such as stiffness and toughness in blood clots, the approach is validated in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

Isoflurane-Induced Splanchnic Sympathectomy
To ascertain whether isoflurane produces a peripheral splanchnic sympathectomy as compared to fentanyl or pentobarbital anesthesia, 12 mongrel dogs (30-45 kg) were allocated randomly to one of three anesthetic test groups, tracheally intubated, surgically prepared, and subjected to unilateral electrical stimulation of the greater splanchnic nerve ...

A new antifouling, antithrombogenic, and bactericidal hydrogel coating method is developed for implantable medical devices. The hydrogel coating can be easily formed by visible‐light crosslinking and is universally applicable to all substrates, ranging from polymers to metals.

Blood/gas partition coefficients of halothane, isoflurane and sevoflurane in horse blood [PDF]
Background. Blood/gas partition coefficients (λb/g) for volatile agents in horse blood are reported for halothane but not for isoflurane and sevoflurane. We measured the λb/g of halothane, isoflurane and sevoflurane in the blood of fasted horses.

TLR Agonist Nano Immune Therapy Clears Peritoneal and Systemic Ovarian Cancer
Intraperitoneal administration of immunogenic Toll‐like receptor agonist‐modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles leads to rapid internalization by ascites myeloid cells with trafficking to fat‐associated lymphoid clusters. Activation of myeloid cells counters suppressive immune mechanisms associated with peritoneal metastasis, leading to regional and ...

A Calibrated Method of Massage Therapy Decreases Systolic Blood Pressure Concomitant With Changes in Heart Rate Variability in Male Rats. [PDF]
ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to develop a method for applying calibrated manual massage pressures by using commonly available, inexpensive sphygmomanometer parts and validate the use of this approach as a quantitative method of applying massage
