Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Isoflurane enhances the malignant potential of glioblastoma stem cells by promoting their viability, mobility in vitro and migratory capacity in vivo.

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 2016
BACKGROUND Isoflurane is one of the most common general anaesthetics used during surgical procedures, including tumour resection. However, the effects of isoflurane on the viability and migration capacity of cancer cells, specifically in the context of ...

General anesthesia does not have persistent effects on attention in rodents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Studies in animals have shown that general anesthesia can cause persistent spatial memory impairment, but the influence of anesthetics on other cognitive functions is unclear.

Targeting RAGE with Nanobodies for Molecular Imaging of Cancers and Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
RAGE‐specific nanobodies were isolated via phage display and characterized by ELISA, cell ELISA, and SPR. In vivo imaging in renal carcinoma and Alzheimer's disease mouse models demonstrated that NbF8, the highest‐affinity clone, selectively targeted RAGE‐overexpressing tumors and brain tissues, highlighting its potential as a molecular imaging agent ...

Isoflurane exposure during mid-adulthood attenuates age-related spatial memory impairment in APP/PS1 transgenic mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Many in vitro findings suggest that isoflurane exposure might accelerate the process of Alzheimer Disease (AD); however, no behavioral evidence exists to support this theory.

Inhalation anesthesia with isoflurane in a black jaguar (Panthera onca) for surgical repair of a fractured mandible [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A black jaguar (Panthera onca) was anesthetized with a combination of medetomidine, ketamine and isoflurane in oxygen for radiological examination and surgical repair of a fractured mandible.

Neuroprotection provided by isoflurane pre-conditioning and post-conditioning

open access: yesMedical Gas Research, 2017
Isoflurane, a volatile and inhalational anesthetic, has been extensively used in perioperative period for several decades. A large amount of experimental studies have indicated that isoflurane exhibits neuroprotective properties when it is administrated ...

3D Bioprinting of Thick Adipose Tissues with Integrated Vascular Hierarchies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
An advanced 3D bioprinting technique is used here to create thick adipose tissues with a central, vessel and extensive branching. The construct is made using alginate, gelatin and collagen‐based bioinks. Flow through the complex vessel network is demonstrated as well as its successful integration with a femoral artery following implantation in a rat ...

Isoflurane Modulates Cardiac Mitochondrial Bioenergetics by Selectively Attenuating Respiratory Complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to cardiac ischemia–reperfusion (IR) injury but volatile anesthetics (VA) may alter mitochondrial function to trigger cardioprotection.
