Continuous intravenous lidocaine infusion during isoflurane anaesthesia in horses undergoing surgical procedures

open access: yes, 2012
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the adjunction of lidocaine as a continuous intravenous (IV) infusion during general anaesthesia with isoflurane in a clinical setting.

Ferroptosis Contributes to Isoflurane Neurotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The underlying mechanisms of isoflurane neurotoxicity in the developing brain remain unclear. Ferroptosis is a recently characterized form of programmed cell death distinct from apoptosis or autophagy, characterized by iron-dependent reactive oxygen ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Anesthesia with isoflurane reduces variability of data.

open access: yes, 2014
Compared to MMF, isoflurane is able to reduce the variability of the results. Additionally, isoflurane at higher concentrations than commonly used might further reduce the variability of heart rate and heart rate dependent values such as cardiac output ...

Atomic Layer Deposition Processes: Versatile Platforms for Engineering ZnO‐Chitosan Biointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Vapour phase metalation (VPM), multiplied pulsed vapour phase infiltration (MPI), and O2 plasma‑enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) tailor Zn–chitosan (Zn‑CS) films. PEALD improves wettability and biocompatibility. MPI enhances semiconductor behavior. Antiseptic selectivity: VPM → E. coli; MPI → H. pylori.

Cell proliferation under isoflurane.

open access: yes, 2019
RCC4-EV and RCC4-VHL cells were grown for 48 h with or without exposure to 2% isoflurane for 2 h (A and C). RCC4-EV were grown for 24 h with or without exposure to 100 μM YC-1 or 2% isoflurane (B and C). (A and B) Cell growth at indicated time points, as

A pilot study on midazolam sedation for murine echocardiography: A potential alternative to isoflurane anesthesia and awake imaging

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Isoflurane anesthesia is often used to facilitate murine echocardiography, but can suppress cardiac function. Awake imaging avoids pharmacological interference, but can induce sympathetic activation. In this Midazolam sedation.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Dexime: A Selectively Enzyme‐Degradable Hydrogel for Protein Therapeutic Release

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dextrin‐oxime hydrogel (dexime) is produced using ketone or aldehyde modified dextrin and tetra‐oxyamine modified poly(ethylene glycol). The rheological and mechanical properties of dexime are tunable. Dexime is injectable, cytocompatible, hydrolytically stable, and selectively degradable by α‐amylase.

Cell migration under isoflurane.

open access: yes, 2019
RCC4-EV and RCC4-VHL cells were allowed to migrate for 0–12 h after exposure 0% or 2% with or without 2% isoflurane treatment for 2 h. Migration rate was assessed as described in Materials and Methods. (A) Cell migration at 0 h and 12 h.
