Development of isokinetic exercise machine using ER brake

2003 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.03CH37422), 2004
ER fluid has rheological characteristics which can be controlled by the electric field. Using particle-type ER fluid, we developed a brake device. In this study, this ER brake was used in an isokinetic exercise system for rehabilitation training under restriction of constant rotational speed of a joint during exercise.

Psychophysiological Effects of Preperformance Massage Before Isokinetic Exercise

Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2011
Sports massage provided before an activity is called pre-event massage. The hypothesized effects of pre-event massage include injury prevention, increased performance, and the promotion of a mental state conducive to performance. However, evidence with regard to the effects of pre-event massage is limited and equivocal.

A maximal isokinetic pedalling exercise for EMG normalization in cycling

Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology, 2009
An isometric maximal voluntary contraction (iMVC) is mostly used for the purpose of EMG normalization, a procedure described in the scientific literature in order to compare muscle activity among different muscles and subjects. However, the use of iMVC has certain limitations. The aims of the present study were therefore to propose a new method for the

[Isokinetic exercise and sports injuries].

Revue medicale de Liege, 2001
The assessment of human muscle strength is of considerable value in various pathological states with modifications of the performance level. The original concept of isokinetic dynamometry provides a precise and reliable quantification of strength. Identification of underlying deficits in bilateral and reciprocal muscle group relationships plays a great

Treatment of recurrent tendinitis by isokinetic eccentric exercises

Isokinetics and Exercise Science, 2001
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of eccentric training models in treating various types of tendinitis and evaluate protection from re-injury when returning to causal activities. Isokinetic eccentric training was administered to 34 patients with chronic tendinitis (9 Achilles, 10 patellar and 15 epicondyllar) with a long ...

Isokinetic Exercise to 50% Fatigue

Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, 1987
This article describes isokinetic exercise based upon exercise performance to a level of 50% muscle fatigue. This format provides an objective means for treatment program progression which may enhance clinical rehabilitation efficiency. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 1987;8(10):505-506.

Isokinetic test and exercises in knee osteoarthritis

2015
