Isolation of Zebrafish Gonads for RNA Isolation
2013Piwi proteins and piRNAs are abundant in the gonads of various animal species. Gonads from different developmental stages provide us information regarding the function of piRNAs and the PIWI pathway during germline development. Here we describe methods for gonad and germ cell preparation from different developmental stages of zebrafish.

A 25-year-old male was discovered to have an asymptomatic pericardial effusion during routine pre-employment medical evaluation. During pericardiocentesis 1200 ml of milky-white fluid was obtained; subsequent biochemical evaluation confirmed the chylous nature of this fluid.

Reading the illness narratives of my professional collogues was a moving experience, which reminded me of my own vulnerability and made clear the wisdom of connecting the dots between lived experience and scholarship. Though this wisdom is compelling, it is far from clear how it might be done.

Isolation of isolates of feline calicivirus
БИОТЕХНОЛОГИЯ: НАУЧНЫЕ ИССЛЕДОВАНИЯ И СВЯЗЬ С ПРОИЗВОДСТВОМA new form of calicivirus in cats, known as virulent systemic calicivirus disease (VS-FCV), is the cause of a particularly severe course of the disease. There is a need to isolate new isolates of feline calicivirus in order to create diagnostic and preventive medicines in terms of expanding the antigenic composition of existing vaccines.
