Clinical and microbiological characteristics of Rahnella aquatilis strains isolated from children

Journal of Infection, 1996
We report the microbiological characteristics of two Rahnella aquatilis strains isolated in the faeces of two patients with acute gastroenteritis, one of whom is an AIDS patient. The biochemical behaviour was studied with different automated identification systems, and the few clinical cases to be found in the literature were reviewed.

Microbiological Study of MRSA Isolated from Wound Samples

Background and Objectives: Staphylococcus aureus present on skin and nasal passage, enter through the cuts or invasive procedures. It is responsible for a number of infections such as wound infections, deep infections that spreads from skin to cause bacteremia with or without endocarditis. It may also involve bone, joints, deep organs and tissues.

The Unitized Patient Isolator: a Microbiological Demonstration of Its Reliability

Military Medicine, 1966
Abstract : The microbial reliability of a unitized patient isolator has been examined in a series of preclinical evaluations and clinical studies. The results may be summarized as follows: The different subsystems and components upon which the isolator is dependent were demonstrated to be technically capable of providing and maintaining a ...

Spectrum and Susceptibilities of Microbiologic Isolates in the Endophthalmitis Vitrectomy Study

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1996
To determine the microbiologic spectrum and antibiotic susceptibilities of infecting organisms in postoperative endophthalmitis and to evaluate the effects of operative factors on the microbiologic spectrum.Patients with bacterial endophthalmitis presenting within six weeks of cataract extraction or secondary intraocular lens implantation (IOL) were ...

Clinical and microbiological evaluation of eight patients with isolated Achromobacter xylosoxidans

Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2012
Achromobacter xylosoxidans causes infections in patients with underlying disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate Achromobacter xylosoxidans cases. Eight patients were included, 5 infections and 3 colonizations. Three of them survived and 2 died. The predisposing factor was catheter. Infection control measures could prevent infection.

Reproductive Isolation in a Neotropical Insect: Behavior and Microbiology

1986
The Drosophila paulistorum Dobzhansky & Pavan complex offers an excellent opportunity for the study of the relationship between an insect host and its microbial symbiont. Electron microscopy reveals that all members of this insect group harbor endosymbionts which, by all appearances, are cell-wall deficient organisms (CWD). While it is not known if the

[Microbiologically identified isolates of Mycobacterium heckeshornense in two patients].

Kekkaku : [Tuberculosis], 2007
To identify mycobacteria isolated from sputa of a 51-year-old female and a 72-year-old male patient with pneumoconiosis.Mycobacteria species were isolated from sputa of a 51-year-old female. The culture was always negative in spite of positive smears before the final isolation in 1988.
