Reproductive Isolation in a Neotropical Insect: Behavior and Microbiology

1986
The Drosophila paulistorum Dobzhansky & Pavan complex offers an excellent opportunity for the study of the relationship between an insect host and its microbial symbiont. Electron microscopy reveals that all members of this insect group harbor endosymbionts which, by all appearances, are cell-wall deficient organisms (CWD). While it is not known if the

Microbiological Spectrum of Organisms Isolated From Explanted Scleral Buckles

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2009
Scleral buckle removal is an uncommon procedure performed for various reasons. Microbiological information on explanted scleral buckles remains limited. The authors identified 37 cases of scleral buckle removal during an 18-year period. Bacterial cultures isolated an organism in 4 of 9 patients (44%) with clinical infection.

Endophthalmitis after penetrating keratoplasty: microbiologic spectrum and susceptibility of isolates

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004
To present the microbial spectrum and susceptibilities of isolates in endophthalmitis following penetrating keratoplasty.Interventional case series. The 1,074 consecutive cases of endophthalmitis presenting to Wills Eye Hospital between 1989 and 2000 were reviewed.

The Unitized Patient Isolator: a Microbiological Demonstration of Its Reliability

Military Medicine, 1966
Abstract : The microbial reliability of a unitized patient isolator has been examined in a series of preclinical evaluations and clinical studies. The results may be summarized as follows: The different subsystems and components upon which the isolator is dependent were demonstrated to be technically capable of providing and maintaining a ...

Microbiologic spectrum and susceptibility of isolates:

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1999
To present the microbial spectrum and susceptibilities of isolates in postoperative endophthalmitis.Isolates from 206 eyes of 206 patients who underwent vitrectomy for postoperative endophthalmitis were examined.One-hundred twelve (54.4%) of 206 vitreous samples were culture positive and 14 (12.5%) of 112 culture-positive cases were polymicrobial ...

Coculture at the Crossroads of the New Microbiology Techniques for the Isolation of Strict Intracellular Bacteria

Future Microbiology, 2020
Coculture played a major role in clinical microbiology by elucidating strict intracellular bacteria era. Since some of these bacteria are human pathogens, in-depth studies at the strain level are necessary to better understand their pathologies and treatment.

Microbiological Monitoring of Hepatocyte Isolation in the GMP Laboratory

2009
For clinical hepatocyte transplantation, cells need to be prepared in a sterile GMP environment. Strict regulations are in place that set the standard for this environment that cells are prepared in. These regulations control all aspects of the environment.

Microbiological and serological study of leptospirosis in horses at slaughter: first isolations

Research in Veterinary Science, 2004
A bacteriological survey of kidneys from 145 abattoir horses was performed, which resulted in the isolation of two Leptospira strains. The isolates were serologically typed as belonging to serogroups Australis and Pomona, and REA identified them as L. interrogans serovar Bratislava and L. kirschneri serovar Tsaratsovo, respectively. These are the first
