Discordant Post-natal Patterns in Fetuses With Heterotaxy Syndrome: A Retrospective Single-Centre Series on Outcome After Fetal Diagnosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2022
ObjectiveCardiac and extra-cardiac anomalies in 46 pre-natally diagnosed cases of heterotaxy were compared to post-natal anatomical patterns in order to reveal discordant findings.

Isomerism effect on the photovoltaic properties of benzotrithiophene-based hole-transporting materials

open access: yes, 2017
Isomerism of benzotrithiophene-based hole transporting materials is shown to have a significant impact on conductance properties, affording photovoltaic efficiency values as high as 19%.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Left atrial isomerism associated with aneurysmal enlargement of right atrial appendage: A case report with literature review

open access: yesIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, 2019
We present a prenatally diagnosed case of heterotaxy syndrome (HS) in which left atrial isomerism (LAI) was associated with an aneurysmal enlargement of the right atrial appendage (RAA).

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.

Reversal in Solvatochromism, enol-imine/keto-amine Tautomerism and (E)-(Z) Photoisomerizations in a Benzylidene Aniline Schiff Base Derivative in Different Solvents

open access: yesMolecules
A novel Schiff base, (E)-4-acetyl-N-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)aniline (abbreviated as ANHMA), was synthesized and characterized using infrared and 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopies.

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.

Normal pulmonary venous drainage in the setting of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Cardiology, 2023
Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) and anomalous pulmonary venous drainage are not synonymous. This has been described in the setting of right isomerism (bilateral right sidedness) where the pulmonary veins are connected anomalously but ...
