In this study, 515 Farfantepenaeus aztecus specimens were investigated in the Gulf of Antalya and 304 (59,02%) specimens (167 females and 137 males) infested with Bopyrid isopod parasite Epipenaeon ingens were found. In this study, we aimed to define the

Histopathological evaluation of Wallago attu (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) infested by ectoparasites
Background Host-parasite interaction studies represent the dependency of the parasites on the host through various models. Gill infesting copepods, monogeneans and isopods served as excellent models to study the details of host-parasite interaction.

Abstract The focus of the present study was on arcturid isopods occurring in the subarctic region around Iceland. Data from two decades of sampling with an epibenthic sledge (EBS) during numerous expeditions of the BIOICE (Benthic Invertebrates of Icelandic Waters; 1992–2004) and IceAGE (Icelandic marine Animals: Genetics and Ecology; 2011—ongoing ...

The Greenland–Scotland Ridge in a Changing Ocean: Time to Act?
ABSTRACT The Greenland–Scotland Ridge is a submarine mountain that rises up to 500 m below the sea surface and extends from the east coast of Greenland to the continental shelf of Iceland and across the Faroe Islands to Scotland. The ridge not only separates deeper ocean basins on either side, that is, the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans, but also ...

SCIENTIFIC ILLUSTRATION IN THE REPRESENTATION OF PARASITIC ISOPODS

First Report on the Diet of the Angolan Flying Squid (Todarodes angolensis) in New Zealand Waters
The Angolan flying squid (Todarodes angolensis) is a southerly distributed, large‐bodied ommastrephid preyed upon by many large marine vertebrates such as the southern elephant seal and deep‐sea squalid sharks. Here, we report its diet in New Zealand waters for the first time, identifying prey items from the stomach contents of 58 adults using ...

Urbanization Effects on the Community Structure of Saproxylic Arthropods in Warm‐Temperate Japan
This study examined saproxylic arthropod communities in various landscapes, ranging from large to fragmented urban forests, and compared the structure and composition of these communities. The results showed that communities could be classified into three types based on species composition and that arthropod community types were correlated with forest ...

Global diversity of fish parasitic isopod crustaceans of the family Cymothoidae
Of the 95 known families of Isopoda only a few are parasitic namely, Bopyridae, Cryptoniscidae, Cymothoidae, Dajidae, Entoniscidae, Gnathiidae and Tridentellidae. Representatives from the family Cymothoidae are obligate parasites of both marine and freshwater fishes and there are currently 40 recognised cymothoid genera worldwide.
