Collaborative studies of thermo-oxidative degradation of styrene–isoprene diblock copolymer
Polymer, 2005Abstract Mechanisms and dynamics of thermo-oxidative degradation of styrene- co -isoprene (SI) diblock at a temperature above the order–disorder transition temperature, T odt , have been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The structural development of SI during degradation was monitored by optical microscopy, and the reduction of ...

Degradation Behaviors of Natural, Guayule, and Synthetic Isoprene Rubbers
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1989Abstract The degradation behavior of three isoprene based rubbers, NR, GR, and IR, under accelerated thermal and uv radiative environments have been investigated, and the extents of the degradation are compared. The oxidative degradation introduces oxygen atoms into the elastomer chains to form carbon—oxygen linkages via hydroxyl, ether ...

Scission of sulfide linkages in vulcanized rubber has been a major concern since the early 20th century, because devulcanization is a key process for recycling waste rubber products as polymer materials that pose low environmental risks. We herein demonstrate that lipid peroxidation (LPO) of linoleic acid by manganese peroxidase (MnP), a proposed ...

In vitro studies on the degradation of poly( cis ‐1,4‐isoprene)
Biotechnology Progress, 2018Cleavage of the backbone of poly( cis ‐1,4‐isoprene) (IR) in solid rubber material was accomplished by the addition of partially purified latex clearing protein (Lcp1 VH2 ) using a 200‐mL enzyme reactor. Two strategies for the addition of Lcp1

Degradation of Isoprene in the Presence of Sulphoxy Radical Anions
Journal of Atmospheric Chemistry, 2004Autoxidation of S(IV) initiated by manganese sulphate or potassium peroxydisulphate in alkaline aqueous solutions was significantly slowed down by dissolved isoprene, which decayed in the process. The laboratory experiments were carried out in a batch, perfectly mixed reactor, which had no gas space.

Abstract The effect of gamma irradiation conditions on the radiation-induced degradation of uncrosslinked, commercial isobutylene–isoprene rubbers has been investigated in this study. Influence of dose rate and irradiation atmosphere on the degradation of butyl rubber has been followed by viscosimetric and chromatographic analyses. Limiting viscosity

Poly(cis-1,4-isoprene) rubber is a highly demanded elastomeric material mainly used for the manufacturing of tires. The end-cycle of rubber-made products is creating serious environmental concern and, therefore, different recycling processes have been proposed.

Isoprene and its degradation products as strong ozone precursors in Insubria, Northern Italy
Atmospheric Environment, 2002Abstract Frequent smog episodes occur during spring, summer, and autumn in Insubria, Northern Italy. On a test site in this area the atmospheric concentration of the photo-oxidants ozone and peroxyacetyl nitrate has been monitored over a year (2000) together with ozone precursors listed in the European Union Air Quality Directive 2002/3/EC, such as ...
