The Pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline Alkaloids
2011The present chapter describes isolation, biogenetic proposals, and syntheses of the natural products 1-4 and 10-11 with a pyrrolo[2,1-a]-isoquinoline framework. Moreover, the syntheses of some structural analogs are discussed. The pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines are of interest due to their promising biological activities.

The Effect of Isoquinoline Alkaloids on Opiate Withdrawal
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2006Our interest has been centered on isoquinoline alkaloids obtained from Argemone mexicana (Papaveraceae), Aristolochia constricta (Aristolochiaceae) and the opium alkaloid, papaverine. In this respect, the effect of these isoquinoline alkaloids was investigated on contractions induced by naloxone of isolated guinea pig ileum acutely exposed to morphine ...

Isoquinoline alkaloids as prolyl oligopeptidase inhibitors
Fitoterapia, 2015Prolyl oligopeptidase is a cytosolic serine peptidase that hydrolyses proline-containing peptides at the carboxy terminus of proline residues. It has been associated with schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, and related neuropsychiatric disorders and therefore may have important clinical implications.
