Gamma interferon-dependent clearance of cytomegalovirus infection in salivary glands [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Cytomegalovirus (CMV), similar to other members of the Herpesviridae family, can establish both persistent and latent infections. Each of the CMVs that are found in many animal species replicates in the salivary gland, and oral secretion represents a ...

α-Cyclodextrin/Moringin Induces an Antioxidant Transcriptional Response Activating Nrf2 in Differentiated NSC-34 Motor Neurons

open access: yesAntioxidants
Oxidative stress is a common feature of neurodegenerative diseases. Different natural compounds mediate neuroprotective effects by activating the Nrf2 antioxidant response. Some isothiocyanates are Nrf2 activators, including Moringin (MOR). In this study,

Synthesis, Diagnoses and Biological Evaluation of New Ligand Derived from Mesalazine and acetyl isothiocyanate with their metal ion complexes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bioscience and Applied Research
Mesalazine ligand (ML) having the isothiocyanate has been synthesis via reaction of mesalazine with acetyl isothiocyanate using absolute ethanol to give 5-(3-acetylthioureido)-2-hydroxybenzoic acid (ML) ligand in one step, then the two step involved the ...

Approaches to overcome flow cytometry limitations in the analysis of cells from veterinary relevant species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Flow cytometry is a powerful tool for the multiparameter analysis of leukocyte subsets on the single cell level. Recent advances have greatly increased the number of fluorochrome-labeled antibodies in flow cytometry.

Preinfection in vitro chemotaxis, phagocytosis, oxidative burst, and expression of CD11/CD18 receptors and their predictive capacity on the outcome of mastitis induced in dairy cows with Escherichia coli. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Four to 6 wk after parturition, 12 cows in second, fourth, or fifth lactation were experimentally infected in one gland with Escherichia coli. The capacity of chemotaxis, phagocytosis, oxidative burst, and expression of CD11/CD18 receptors to predict the

Cultivated Winter-Type Lunaria annua L. Seed: Deciphering the Glucosinolate Profile Integrating HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS Analyses, and Determination of Fatty Acid Composition

open access: yesMolecules
Lunaria annua L. (Brassicaceae) is an ornamental plant newly identified in Europe as a promising industrial oilseed crop for its valuable very-long-chain monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), especially erucic acid (EA) and nervonic acid (NA). L.

PECAM-1 engagement counteracts ICAM-1-induced signaling in brain vascular endothelial cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Interactions between leukocytes and vascular endothelial cells are mediated by a complex set of membrane adhesion molecules which transduce bi-directional signals in both cell types.

Biological activity of glucosinolate derived compounds isolated from seed meal of Brassica crops and evaluated as plant and food protection agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Glucosinolates are amino acid derived allelochemicals characteristic of plants of the order Capparales. These compounds are present in seeds of agriculturally common Brassica crops in varying quantities depending on the species (ref).

Characterization of the Arachis (Leguminosae) D genome using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) chromosome markers and total genome DNA hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Chromosome markers were developed for Arachis glandulifera using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) of the 5S and 45S rRNA genes and heterochromatic 4'-6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) positive bands.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.
