Redox‐Modulated σ‐Bond Reactivity in a Radical‐Anion Dimer

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A radialene‐based radical anion σ‐dimer comprising an elongated C‐C bond exhibits orthogonal stimuli responsiveness. Homolytic cleavage of the dimer to the radical state is triggered by mechanical strain and high temperature. Dimer scission is also achieved via oxidation, resulting in formation of neutral radialenes.

Modifications of Lysine Residues 294 and 311 Within the Microtubule‐Binding Region Alter Tau Aggregation and Tubulin Binding Equilibria

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The molecular consequences of specific lysine modifications in Alzheimer´s disease remain insufficiently resolved in the context of full‐length protein. Here we integrate protein semisynthesis, segmental isotope labelling, and high‐resolution NMR spectroscopy to achieve residue‐resolved interrogation of site‐specific acetylation and carboxymethylation.

Characterization of Full‐Length Antibody Complexes Through HDX‐Mass Spectrometry Coupled With NMR Spectroscopy: New Insight Into Avelumab/PD‐L1 Interaction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Combining HDX‐MS and NMR enables the mapping of epitopes and paratopes in full‐length antibody complexes, revealing transient interactions and potential artifacts. ABSTRACT Recombinant biomacromolecules have significantly transformed pharmaceuticals, in particular monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that target key areas in oncology, immunology, inflammation,

Activating Triplet Excitons in COFs via Layer‐Bridging Co Single Atoms for Photocatalytic H2O2 Production and Tandem C─N Coupling

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a layer‐bridging coordination strategy of Co single atoms in COFs that promotes the formation and utilization of triplet excited states. The introduction of Co single atoms induces pronounced energy‐level splitting and enhanced spin–orbit coupling, facilitating the generation of 1O2 and O2•– for efficient photocatalytic H2O2 ...

Janus Reactivity of a Mononuclear Non‐Heme Iron(III)‐Peroxo Complex Toward Indole Oxidation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The iron(III)‐peroxo complex [FeIII(O2)(12‐TMC)]+ exhibits bifurcating pathways in indole oxidation. N─H indoles undergo N─H H‐atom abstraction, supported by a KIE of 5.2 for N─H/N–D 2,3‐dimethylindoles, whereas N‐methylindoles react via electrophilic addition of the iron‐peroxo group to the C2–C3 double bond of the indole ring, forming iron ...
