Spiking isotope dilution

Journal of Radioanalytical Chemistry, 1975
The isotope dilution method, which is based on the isolation of a constant substoichiometric amount, can be completed by a group of radiometric techniques in which this amount is a function of the concentration to be determined. It is convenient then to plot the experimental data in such a way that a straight line is obtained.

Isotope dilution analysis for speciation

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2003
The advantages of isotope dilution analysis for speciation in the metal species are described. The species-unspecific mode of different species provides accurate and precise determination of the element, because the quantification parameter is an isotope ratio, in spite of an absoluted intensity.

The accuracy of isotope dilution methods

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1961
BS>The accuracy of quantitative analyses by various isotope dilution methods is discussed. The most favorable amounts of dilution are derived under the assumption that the relative error, delta S/S, in measuring a specific activity, S, is independent of S. (auth)

Isotope Dilution Analysis

1971
This chapter describes the use of radioactive isotope dilution analysis in combination with various analytical separation techniques for the identification and quantitative determination of a labeled substance and its metabolite(s) in laboratory animals and man.

A kinetic isotope dilution assay for glycerol

Analytical Biochemistry, 1984
Using glycerol kinase and [3H]glycerol, a kinetic isotope dilution assay for glycerol has been developed. Reactant and product are separated by stepwise elution from QAE-Sephadex. This assay is sensitive to as little as 100 pmol of glycerol, avoids numerous drawbacks of the traditional fluorescent assay, and readily detects glycerol production by fewer

The assay of orotate by an isotope dilution procedure

Analytical Biochemistry, 1977
Abstract Orotate has been estimated by an isotope dilution procedure in which the sample of unlabeled orotate is competed with a known amount of [ 14 C]orotate for enzymatic reaction with a limiting amount of 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate. The dilution of the specific activity of the 14 C radioactivity in the orotidine-5′-monophosphate and UMP ...

Isotope scrambling and error magnification in multiple-spiking isotope dilution

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2009
The purpose of performing multiple spiking isotope dilution is to quantify interconverting substances. This feature has been utilized in analytical chemistry now for more than a decade. In this manuscript we show that the interconversion of analytes is inevitably accompanied by the gradual loss of information that can be extracted from the isotope ...

Calculation of precision in isotope dilution experiments

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1969
Abstract Equations are derived for the composite error of isotope dilution measurements in three types of experiment viz. simple dilution, saturation analysis (sub-stoichiometric dilution) and adsorbed ion measurement; the latter two yielding equations of the same form.

The determination of 235-u by the isotope dilution method

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1960
Summary This paper describes an examination of the precision which might be achieved by using an isotopic dilution method for the determination of 235U in the feed solution of an enriched uranium fuel chemical processing plant such as the Dounreay M.T.R. chemical plant.

Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry

2013
Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry (IDMS) has become an essential tool in research laboratories and is increasingly used in routine analysis labs (including environmental, food safety and clinical applications). This is the first textbook to present a comprehensive and instructive view of the theory and applications of this growing technique.
