The Potential of Isotopic Tracers for Precise and Environmentally Clean Stream Discharge Measurements

open access: yesHydrology, 2023
Accurate discharge measurement is mandatory for any hydrological study. While the “velocity” measurement method is adapted to laminar flows, the “dilution” method is more appropriate for turbulent streams.

Timing carbon turnover (δ13C) in weaned piglet’s brain by IRMS

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2018
Isotope-ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) is a potential tool that provides time-integrated estimate of assimilated and not just ingested nutrients. This feature turned possible its application to evaluate the effects of dietary nucleotides and glutamate on

Aproveitamento de nitrogênio pelo milho, em razão da adubação verde, nitrogenada e fosfatada Nitrogen utilization by corn as affected by green manures and nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers

The need for speed – Burnup determination of spent nuclear fuel

open access: yesTalanta Open, 2022
Here we present the application of a novel analytical approach for high-speed evaluation of burn-up in spent nuclear fuel. This automated online separation–direct analysis method, which simultaneously measures the isotopic compositions and concentrations

Domain associated with zinc fingers‐containing NF90‐NF45 complex inhibits m6A modification of primary microRNA by suppressing METTL3/14 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NF90–NF45 functions as a negative regulator of methyltransferase‐like 3/14 (METTL3/14)‐mediated N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) modification on primary microRNAs (pri‐miRNAs). NF90–NF45 binds to anti‐oncogenic pri‐miRNAs and inhibits their m6A modification, thereby suppressing the biogenesis of anti‐oncogenic miRNAs.

The temperature and chronology of heavy-element synthesis in low-mass stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Roughly half of the heavy elements (atomic mass greater than that of iron) are believed to be synthesized in the late evolutionary stages of stars with masses between 0.8 and 8 solar masses. Deep inside the star, nuclei (mainly iron) capture neutrons and

Copper Doping Enhances the Activity and Selectivity of Atomically Precise Ag44 Nanoclusters for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By a simple anti‐Galvanic reaction, up to six copper atoms could be preferably doped into the Ag2(SR)5 staple motifs and Ag20 dodecahedral shell of an atomically precise Ag44(SR)30 nanocluster. When anatase TiO2 is used as substrate, the (AgCu)44/TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited much improved activity in photocatalytic CO2 reduction compared to Ag44/TiO2 ...
