Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

The optical singularities of birefringent dichroic chiral crystals

open access: yes, 2003
Using a new formalism involving projection from the sphere of directions to the stereographic plane, and associated complex variables, explicit formulae are obtained for the two refractive indices and polarizations in optically anisotropic crystals that ...

Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

Some contact problems for isotropic half-plane

open access: yes, 1992
The aim of the work is to determine contact stresses in isotropic half-plane under the pressure of a die or a system of dies at their incomplete adhesion with half-plane material.

Isogonality and inversion in an isotropic plane

open access: yesInternational journal of pure and applied mathematics, 2008
The isogonality with respect to the triangle and inversion with respect to the circle will be defined in an isotropic plane. The images of some lines and points with respect to these mappings will be studied.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Better butterfly theorem in the isotropic plane

open access: yes, 2006
A real affine plane A_2 is called an isotropic plane I_2, if in A_2 a metric is induced by an absolute {f, F}, consisting of the line at infinity f of A_2 and a point $F\in f$.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Local properties and statistics of phase singularities in generic wavefields

open access: yes, 2001
This paper is a review and extension of recent work by Berry and Dennis (Proc R Soc Lond A456, pp2059, 2000; A457, pp141-155, 2001), where the geometric structure of phase singularities (wave dislocations) in waves is studied, particularly for ...
