Synthesis and crystal structure of Ge(SO4)2

Abstract Colourless single crystals of Ge(SO4)2 were obtained as single phase products from the binary oxides GeO2 and SO3. The reaction was carried out in a silica glass ampule enclosed in an autoclave at 350 °C. Ge(SO4)2 forms a layer structure with corner‐linked GeO6 octahedra and SO4 tetrahedra.

Abstract Systematic phase formation studies in the system MnII/TeIV/O/‐(H) using either solid‐state reactions between stoichiometric MnO:TeO2 mixtures or hydrothermal reactions under basic conditions led to crystal growth of two polymorphs (α‐, γ‐) of MnTeO3, Mn6Te5O16, Mn15(TeO3)14(OH)2 and Mn3(TeO3)2(OH)2.

The Stacking Faulted Nature of the Narrow Gap Semiconductor Sc2Si2Te6

Abstract Crystals of Sc2Si2Te6 have been grown and its crystal, micro‐ and electronic structures were investigated. The layered character of the title compound exhibits stacking faults that impede a full structural characterization by single crystal X‐ray diffraction due to diffuse scattering.

Influencing the Dimensionality of Ni/Co‐Bipyrazole‐Based Coordination Frameworks through Anions and Thermal Activation

13 structures based on Ni(II) and Co(II) metal centers and 1H,1′H‐4,4′‐bipyrazole linkers are discussed, with the linker being neutral in 11 of them. The role of the anion on framework dimensionality in those structures and correlations of the different structures are discussed.

Chalkogenide durch Reduktion ihrer Dioxide in ultra‐alkalischen Medien

Die unerwartete Reduktion von Selen(IV)‐ und Tellur(IV)‐Oxiden zu Chalkogeniden wurde unter ultraalkalischen Bedingungen durch die Verwendung von As2O3 als Reduktionsmittel ermöglicht. Durch Optimierung der Reaktionsbedingungen konnten innerhalb von zwei Tagen große Kristalle von K2Se3, K2Te3 und K2Se2Te gezüchtet werden.
