Studies in isoxazole chemistry. IV. Isoxazoles via isoxazolines
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 19704- or 5-Chloro- or cyanoisoxazoles, 5-chloromethylisoxazoles, and 5-methylisoxazoles were made by the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides to α-halogeno- or α-alkoxyolefins. In the case of cis- and trans-1,2-dichloroethylene, (5a and b) the intermediate cis- and trans-4,5-dichloroisoxalines (6a and b) were isolated.

Abstract A number of divalent 3d metal chloride and perchlorate complexes with isoxazole were obtained by interaction of salt and ligand in triethyl orthoformate-ethanol. Characterization of these complexes was based on spectral (ir--electronic), magnetic and conductance evidence.

Isoxazoles, isoxazolines and isoxazolidines are a class of heterocyclic compounds having a remarkable number of applications and are very versatile building blocks in organic synthesis. The developments concerning the synthesis of the above monocyclic systems reported in the literature from 2007 to 2019 are reviewed.
