Enolase isozymes from Ricinus communis: Partial purification and characterization of the isozymes
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1984The plastid and cytosolic isozymes of enolase from developing endosperm of castor oil seeds, Ricinus communis L. cv. Baker 296, were separated and partially purified. Each purified isozyme had a specific activity of approximately 200 mumol min-1 mg protein.

Electrophoretic technique combined with enzyme-specific stains has provided the most precise way of estimating genetic variability in many plant taxa. Within the genus Lycopersicon this method has been successfully applied by Rick and his colleagues for measuring the extent of variation both in cultivated forms and wild species (Rick 1976a, 1983 ...

Abstract There are two different types of aldolase in mammalian tissues, the main difference between these isozymes is the relative activity towards the second substrate of aldolase, fructose- 1 -phosphate (F- 1 -P). In normal liver the ratio of the activities towards fructose di-phosphate (F-d-P) and towards fructose- 1 -phosphate, is near 1 ...

The glutathione reductase (GR; EC 1.6.4.2) isozyme present in peroxisomes has been purified for the first time, and its unequivocal localization in these organelles, by immunogold electron microscopy, is reported. The enzyme was purified c.

Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of closely related serine and threonine kinases. Overactivation of some PKC isozymes has been postulated to occur in several diseases states, including diabetic complications.

Human placental aminopeptidase isozymes

Activation of carbonic anhydrase isozymes
2000CA inhibition by sulphanilamide, discovered in England by Mann and Keilin (1940) and its activation by different classes of compounds, reported in Germany by Leiner (1940), although simultaneous, had completely different consequences for CA research.

Trehalase Isozymes in Amniotic Fluid
Asia-Oceania Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1986AbstractA technique has been developed for the separation of trehalase isozymes by poly‐acrylamide slab gel electrophoresis in horizontal plates. Amniotic fluid was found to contain two isozymes at middle gestation and two or three isozymes at late gestation. Meconium at middle gestation and newborn urine contain only low‐mobility isozyme.

The ontogeny of creatine kinase isozymes
Developmental Biology, 1964Abstract The ontogeny of creatine kinase isozymes in the rat brain, heart, and skeletal muscle and the chicken skeletal muscle has been studied by agar gel electrophoresis and visualization of the enzyme by an optical test. In adult animals three creatine kinase isozymes are observed: isozyme I (brain) migrating toward the anode, isozyme III ...

Isozymes of Alcohol Dehydrogenases
1980Thirty amino acid substitutions are known in eight sets of isozymes or mutants of alcohol dehydrogenases. The replacements are at different positions in the subunits and affect many regions of the protein chains, which is consistent with the variability in properties of isozyme pairs.
