Occurrence of vasospasm and infarction in relation to a focal monitoring sensor in patients after SAH: placing a bet when placing a probe? [PDF]
Introduction: Vasospastic brain infarction is a devastating complication of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Using a probe for invasive monitoring of brain tissue oxygenation or blood flow is highly focal and may miss the site of cerebral ...

Attenuation of Focal Cerebral Ischemic Injury Following Post Ischemic Inhibition of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Activity in Normotensive Rat [PDF]
Central renin angiotensin system has an important role on the cerebral microcirculation and metabolism. Our previous work showed that inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity prior to induction of ischemia protected the brain from ...

Scintigraphic imaging of focal hypoxic tissue: development and clinical applications of 123I-IAZA
Affected tissues in a number of diseases, including cancer, stroke, cardiac infarction and diabetes, develop focal tissue hypoxia during their progression. The presence of hypoxic tissue may make the disease refractory to therapy, as in the case of solid

Enlarged infarct volume and loss of BDNF mRNA induction following brain ischemia in mice lacking FGF-2 [PDF]
FGF-2, a potent multifunctional and neurotrophic growth factor, is widely expressed in the brain and upregulated in cerebral ischemia. Previous studies have shown that intraventricularly or systemically administered FGF-2 reduces the size of cerebral ...
