Progressive development of cracks in biochar–cement composites through multiscale analysis

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 30, Page 5952-5971, 19 December 2025.
Abstract The intrinsic brittleness of the cement matrix limits its synergy with steel reinforcement bars, constraining energy dissipation and crack control capacity of concrete. Enhancing the ductility of cementitious materials is, therefore, essential for improving structural resilience.

Depopulacija sjeverne hrvatske Istre

open access: yesDela, 2001

On the natural border: A bio‐geo‐political reading

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 50, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract This article engages in a critical analysis of the concept of the natural border. It highlights its inherently biopolitical nature by exploring how it intersects with biology, history and geography. In the last decades, critical border studies have deeply questioned the naturality of borders.

Experimental investigations of N‐joints made of high‐strength hollow sections

open access: yesSteel Construction, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 139-149, September 2025.
Abstract This article presents experimental investigations of the structural behaviour of welded N‐joints made of high‐strength hollow sections. A total of 13 large‐scale tests were carried out on joints made from five different steel grades (S500MH, S620QH, S700MH, S770QH and S890QH) using both circular (CHS) and square (SHS) hollow sections.

Comparison of Numerical Results With Experiment Using Digital Image Correlation System of Multiobjective Structural Optimised Wind Turbine Blade

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 28, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel approach to the structural design of small‐scale turbine blades using the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) Algorithm to optimise both mass and cost (objective functions), with a comparison to experimental results obtained using a Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system. The optimisation algorithm defined several variables,

The Fine and the Tasteless. Istrian Culinary Experts and Taste

open access: yesTraditiones, 2015
The interpretation in this article draws upon Bourdieu’s work on the relationship between food, consumption, and cultural identity to show how Istrian culinary experts’ knowledge is constructed and established as a form of cultural capital.

Analyses of Spatiotemporal Variation of Antioxidative Activity in Common Mistletoe (Viscum Album l.) Accompanied by Antibacterial Activity of Green Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 23, June 18, 2025.
Samples harvested in October had higher content of bioactive compounds. Fresh samples and commercial tea mixtures exhibited significant differences between locations. A successful synthesis of AgNPs was achieved using methanolic extract with absorption peak at 439 nm and average crystallite diameter of 21 nm. The AgNPs demonstrated potent antimicrobial

A Dormant Giant: Renewable Energy in the Soviet Union and Russia (1970s–Present)

open access: yesThe Russian Review, Volume 84, Issue 2, Page 267-282, April 2025.
Abstract In spring 1981 the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party officially sanctioned the start of an “alternative” renewable energy development program in the Soviet Union. Throughout the following decade, some two hundred organizations in the USSR were involved in research and development activities and installing test facilities for ...
