The relative importance sector and regional factors in Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The benefits of sector and regional diversification have been well documented in the literature but have not previously been investigated in Italy.

Physical interpretation of pp-waves with axial torsion

open access: yes, 2017
We consider generalised pp-waves with purely axial torsion, which we previously showed to be new vacuum solutions of quadratic metric-affine gravity. Our analysis shows that classical pp-waves of parallel Ricci curvature should not be viewed on their own.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Relationships between Psychidae communities (Lepidoptera: Tineoidea) and the ecological characteristics of old-growth forests in a beech dominated landscape

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2016
Several studies address the question of which forest attributes are most important for the conservation of biodiversity. Unfortunately, there are no unequivocal answers because the response of a biological group to changes in forest structure depends on ...

Testing Comptonisation models using BeppoSAX observations of Seyfert 1 galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
We have used realistic Comptonization models to fit high quality BeppoSAX data of 6 Seyfert galaxies. Our main effort was to adopt a Comptonization model taking into account the anisotropy of the soft photon field. The most important consequence is a reduction of the first scattering order, which produces a break (the so-called anisotropy break) in the

Regions, Innovation Systems, and the North-South Divide in Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Using firm-level data collected by Statistics Italy for 2008, 2011, and 2015, we examine the Triple-Helix synergy among geographical and size distributions of firms, and the NACE codes attributed to these firms, at the different levels of regional and ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Auf der Suche nach den Keltinnen in Italien. Die Hohlbuckelringe aus Marzabotto (prov. Bologna/I) [PDF]

open access: yesStudia Hercynia, 2020
Marzabotto (prov. Bologna/I) is one of the most important archaeological sites for research on the mobility of Celtic women. Since the 19th century, six undecorated ‘Hohlbuckelringe’ (anklets with hollow hemispheres/ knobbed rings) have been found and ...
