Asynchronous Iterative Methods for Multiprocessors
Journal of the ACM, 1978Abstract : A class of asynchronous iterative methods is presented for solving a system of equations. Existing iterative methods are identified in terms of asynchronous iterations, and new schemes are introduced corresponding to a parallel implementation on a multiprocessor system with no synchronization between cooperating processes.

This book deals primarily with the numerical solution of linear systems of equations by iterative methods. The first part of the book is intended to serve as a textbook for a numerical linear algebra course. The material assumes the reader has a basic knowledge of linear algebra, such as set theory and matrix algebra, however it is demanding for ...

One of the problems which arise from the increasing use of multiprocessing is the efficient utilization of all the processors. If the solution of a problem requires T units of time when only one processor is used, it is hoped that using k processor will require only T/k units of time.

Iterative Sequences of the Localization Method
Differential EquationsThe conditions of positive invariance and compactness of localizing sets and extended localizing sets are proved. The necessary condition for the existence of an attractor in the system is obtained. The concept of an iterative sequence of extended localizing sets is introduced and a condition is obtained under which its elements are positively ...
