The eNOS G894T polymorphism is a significant genetic risk factor for type 2 diabetes in the studied Tunisian population. The T allele appears to confer susceptibility, likely through mechanisms involving impaired eNOS function, reduced NO production and subsequent endothelial dysfunction.

Nuclear small subunit rRNA group I intron variation among Beauveria spp provide tools for strain identification and evidence of horizontal transfer [PDF]
An optional group I intron was characterized at a single insertion point in nuclear small subunit rRNA (nuSSU rRNA) genes of the imperfect entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana and B. brongniartii.

Abstract Revision surgery after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL‐R) is hypothesized to be the result of an interplay between factors associated with the anatomy, physiological characteristics and environment of the patient. The multifactorial nature of revision ACL‐R risk is difficult to quantify, and evidence regarding the independent ...

Anthropogenic‐derived E. cloacae colonises marine cooling water systems, where chlorine exposure drives cross‐resistance and enhances biofilm formation, creating hotspots for barnacle larval settlement. This work reveals a previously unrecognised mechanism linking microbial pollution to marine biofouling.

Road-killed wild animals: a preservation problem useful for eco-epidemiological studies of pathogens [PDF]
Road-killed wild animals have been for years used for surveillance of vectors of zoonotic pathogens and may offer new opportunities for eco-epidemiological studies.

Detection of mutations induced by CRISPR/Cas9 in cabbage protoplasts using qPCR and dPCR
This study evaluated two PCR‐based methods—qPCR and dPCR—for detecting CRISPR‐induced mutations in transformed cabbage protoplasts. Both methods distinguished edited from wild‐type protoplasts, offering rapid and cost‐efficient alternatives for mutation detection, with dPCR providing higher sensitivity and closer agreement with NGS results.
