Evaluating land–sea linkages using land cover change and coral reef monitoring data: A case study from northeastern Puerto Rico

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Land cover change that leads to increased nutrient and sediment runoff is an important driver of change in coral reef ecosystems. In this study, we combined satellite remote sensing and field monitoring to assess concomitant changes in watershed land cover and coral cover in northeastern Puerto Rico in 2000–2015.

Emission of cosmic rays from Jupiter: magnetospheres as possible sources of cosmic rays

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
Measurements made recently with the PAMELA satellite during a period of 8 years have shown with good evidence that a fraction of the cosmic rays detected on Earth comes from Jupiter.

Sampling, Mobility, and Anchoring in Small‐Body Sampling Robots: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
Small‐body sampling robots are exploration systems that perform contact, sampling, and stable operations on microgravity bodies such as asteroids and comets. The authors review representative robot architectures and key technologies, focusing on the mechanisms, evolution, and coupling of sampling, mobility, and anchoring.

Interfacial Nano‐Pitting and In Situ Sulfate‐Directed Growth of Na2.85V2(PO4)2.85(SO4)0.15 Nanodots on MWCNT for Ultrafast Sodium‐Ion Storage

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Ultracentrifugation‐assisted phosphate–sulfate treatment induces self‐limiting nano‐pitting on carbon nanotube surfaces, creating confined sites for in situ growth of Na2.85V2(PO4)2.85(SO4)0.15 nanodots. This embedded nanodot–carbon interface ensures strong electronic coupling and short ion pathways, enabling capacitor‐like sodium storage with ...

Enhancing durability of steam‐cured precast concrete culverts using SCMs: A comparative study with delithiated beta spodumene

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Steam curing is commonly used to manufacture precast culverts to accelerate early strength development. This study investigates the effect of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) on the permeability properties of steam‐cured precast concrete culverts.

Interplanetary external driven quasidynamo as the origin of geomagnetic jerks correlated with length of day and gravity anomaly

open access: yesContributions to Geophysics and Geodesy, 2018
We report phenomenological inevitable correlation between the Sun’s magnetic field oscillation through the Earth and the Jupiter, with sinusoidal geomagnetic jerks observed at the Earth, additionally aligned with the gravity and length of day sinusoidal ...
