Comparing Genome Sequencing Methods to Reconstruct the Spread of Piscine Myocarditis Virus in Ireland

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Piscine myocarditis virus (PMCV), a double‐stranded RNA virus, is the causative agent of cardiomyopathy syndrome (CMS) in Atlantic salmon Salmo salar, which was first reported in Ireland in 2012. PMCV continues to be a disease threat to Atlantic salmon aquaculture in Ireland, and as such, it is of growing importance to understand how the virus

Evaluating the prevalence and severity of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in primary care

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims The prevalence of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has increased during the epidemic of obesity. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with progressive MASLD. Therefore, many guidelines recommend screening for MASLD in patients with T2DM.

Mechanisms of enteric neuropathy in diverse contexts of gastrointestinal dysfunction

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Abstract The enteric nervous system (ENS) commands moment‐to‐moment gut functions through integrative neurocircuitry housed in the gut wall. The functional continuity of ENS networks is disrupted in enteric neuropathies and contributes to major disturbances in normal gut activities including abnormal gut motility, secretions, pain, immune dysregulation,

Somatic embryogenetic receptor kinase TaSERL2 regulates heat stress tolerance in wheat by influencing TaBZR2 protein stability and transcriptional activity

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Heat stress is a major factor limiting crop yield, a challenge intensified by climate change. Initial findings indicate that BES1/BZR1 may use heat shock to regulate plant thermal adaptability independently of BIN2‐mediated brassinosteroid signalling, although the exact molecular mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we identified TaBZR2, a
