Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy in the clinical practice of a neurologist. Case report [PDF]
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is an opportunistic infection with severe brain damage caused by the JC-virus, against the background of immunosuppressive conditions.

The agnoprotein of polyomavirus JC is released by infected cells: Evidence for Its cellular uptake by uninfected neighboring cells [PDF]
Poliomavirus JC replicates in glial cells in the brain, and causes the fatal demyelinating disease, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Roles of intrinsic anisotropy and pi-band pairbreaking effects on critical currents in tilted c-axis MgB2 films probed by magneto-optical and transport measurements [PDF]
Investigations of MgB2 and Fe-based superconductors in recent years have revealed many unusual effects of multiband superconductivity but manifestations of anisotropic multiband effects in the critical current density Jc have not been addressed experimentally, mostly because of the difficulties to measure Jc along the c-axis.

ViroFind: A novel target-enrichment deep-sequencing platform reveals a complex JC virus population in the brain of PML patients. [PDF]
Deep nucleotide sequencing enables the unbiased, broad-spectrum detection of viruses in clinical samples without requiring an a priori hypothesis for the source of infection.

Central role of JC virus-specific CD4+ lymphocytes in progressive multi-focal leucoencephalopathy-immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome [PDF]
Progressive multi-focal leucoencephalopathy and progressive multi-focal leucoencephalopathy-immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome are caused by infection of the central nervous system with the JC polyoma virus.

CINs of the cytoplasm: dissecting dsRNA signaling in chromosomal instability
Micronuclei, formed during cell division in chromosomal instability settings, rupture and lead to the accumulation of immunogenic double‐stranded RNA in the cytoplasm, activating MAVS‐dependent interferon signaling and innate antitumor immunity.
