Flame jet properties of Bunsen-type flames

Combustion and Flame, 2006
The flame jet width and flame jet velocity of the burnt gases of a premixedBunsen-type flame are important parameters to quantify the heat transfer rate ofthese flames. In this paper a simple expression is derived to estimate the resulting flame jetwidth and flame jet velocity of burnt gases of a free flame afterexpansion over the flame front for the ...

Visualization of jet flames

Combustion and Flame, 1986
INTRODUCTION was also used recently to examine CH and C2 Flow visualization has long been employed in distributions in ethylene and acetylene gaseous experimental studies of fluid mechanics and heat flames and in heptane-air spray flames [7]. transfer phenomena.

Impinging jet flames

Combustion and Flame, 1968
Abstract An experimental investigation has been made of a flame impinging at an angle of 20° on the hearth of a furnace. Measured velocity and temperature profiles in the flame were found to have the same reduced form as profiles obtained for a plane heated impinging jet, by Mathieu.

TURBULENT JET DIFFUSION FLAMES

Progress in Energy and Combustion Science, 1976
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the turbulent jet diffusion flames of gaseous fuels. This system is simple compared to that in a diesel or gas turbine engine but nevertheless can throw much light on the mechanisms that are involved in the submodels used in describing the more complex systems.

Experiments on Impulsively Started Jet Diffusion Flames

AIAA Journal, 1996
The starting vortex of an impulsively generated jet diffusion flame was studied experimentally. Fuel jets were produced by the sudden discharge via a solenoid valve into still air. The fuel jet was ignited by a pilot flame. The length and lateral spread of the flame were determined by video imaging.

Blowout Limits of a Jet Diffusion Flame in the Presence of Small Surrounding Jet Pilot Flames

Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1996
The blowout limit of a methane jet diffusion flame is examined in the presence of a number of much smaller pilot jet flames of different fuels arranged within an experimental burner assembly in a co-flowing stream of air. It is shown that the blowout limit of the central jet flame can be extended very appreciably by increasing the flow rate through the
