AbstractThe quenching process within the heat treatment of workpieces can be optimized by applying locally adapted quenching conditions. Locally variable heat transfer conditions at the workpiece surface are realizable by impressing and regulation of adjustable flexible flow fields on the basis of arrays for jet flow impingings on surfaces inside the ...

A laminar jet in a rotating fluid [PDF]
A solution is presented of the asymptotic flow due to a point source of momentum in a uniformly rotating unbounded environment. Under the condition that the relative swirl velocity of the jet is small compared with the ambient swirl velocity, the equations of motion reduce to a set of linear equations.

The wall jet in a rotating fluid
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1997The previously observed spatial evolution of the two-dimensional turbulent flow from a source on the vertical wall of a shallow layer of rapidly rotating fluid is strikingly different from the non-rotating three-dimensional counterpart, insofar as the instability eddies generated in the former case cause the flow to separate completely from the

A one dimensional theory of compressible inviscid fluid jets is established using a direct Cosserat type theory in contrast to procedures in which one dimensional equations are obtained by approximations of those used for a three dimensional theory. Applications are made to straight jets and circular rings.

Effects of magnetic field on micro cross jet injection of dispersed nanoparticles in a microchannel
International journal of numerical methods for heat & fluid flow, 2019Purpose Water/Al2O3 nanofluid with volume fractions of 0, 0.3 and 0.06 was investigated inside a rectangular microchannel. Jet injection of nanofluid was used to enhance the heat transfer under a homogeneous magnetic field with the strengths of Ha = 0 ...

The interaction between a spatially oscillating jet emitted by a fluidic oscillator and a cross-flow
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2019This experimental study investigates the fundamental flow field of a spatially oscillating jet emitted by a fluidic oscillator into an attached cross-flow.

Properties of a sweeping jet emitted from a fluidic oscillator
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2018This experimental study investigates the flow field and properties of a sweeping jet emitted from a fluidic oscillator into a quiescent environment. The aspect ratio of the outlet throat is 1.

Jet with variable fluid properties: Free jet and dissipative jet
International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2016Abstract An analysis of the laminar jet of an incompressible Newtonian fluid emerging from a narrow slot or a circular hole, where the physical properties like viscosity and thermal conductivity depends upon the temperature, is given. Both the cases: the case of In the absence of viscous heat dissipation and the case of In the presence of viscous ...
